(San Jose, California at night ----->)
Todoroki
After watching some more anime, I decided to go for a walk around the city once Midoriya went to bed. I don't want him to worry about me right now. Sure, some memories were resurfacing back up, but that's only because of the time of the year. Summer is coming, and it's a perfect time to practice racing gigs. Racing. God, how much I've missed it. The thrill of going at an inhuman speed and being so reckless. Your blood pumping, heart racing, and goosebumps rising as you go faster and faster.
Regardless of my love for the sport, I've kept away from it. It used to be my utmost passion, my whole life, and existence. But everything changed two years ago, on this very day. Where did it all go wrong? Maybe at the start of it all? No, it was when I was being stupid and had my heart set on beating my newest record with a couple of friends.
When my mother was pregnant, she moved to America in hopes of finding better wages and a safer place to live with the rest of my siblings and father. But unfortunately, he died only a few months after making the change. Sure it was devastating, but my mom had to be strong for her kids. So the constant moving around from place to place begun until I was around eight years old.
By some sort of miracle, my mother ran into Inko Midoriya at work. They became close friends over time and Inko learned about our living situation and decided to have us move in. There was enough room and so Touya and Natsuo shared a room, Fuyumi and mother got their own room, and I bunked with Midoriya. At first, it was painfully awkward because we didn't have anything in common. That's what I believed, until one day I saw him watching the Daytona 500 and we bonded over racing. From that day on we were inseparable, practically brothers.
One morning when everyone was eating breakfast, I ran up to the kettle to make some tea but ended up tripping and pouring a majority of the boiling hot water on the left side on my face. So I had gained a huge scar. Ever since I try my best to avoid kettles and prefer to eat cold foods.
Years passed by and all the boys in the house were enchanted with racing. Touya was more into illegal street racing like the Fast and Furious while Natsuo wanted to report on the scene and watch overhead. Midoriya and I were different. We both wanted to drive race cars, feel the wind flap in our hair and break boundaries, make history.
So whenever we had the chance, Midoriya and I would sneak out with Touya and go our separate ways with our friend groups to do some sort of practice for racing. Touya joined a gang of some sort, but all they did was participate in street races and hang around. Meanwhile, Midoriya and I had some friends bring an old car and we would break into an old race track and take turns racing, practicing techniques, observe each other, and mess around. Those were some of the best memories I've ever made. That was when I met my first love and how I found out I was bisexual. I fell in love with my close friend, Inasa Yoarashi.
We kept our relationship a secret except for our friends and family. Our school was huge on gossip and we didn't need that ruining what we had. Just thinking about those days brought a sense of nostalgia and warmth.
"Hey, kids. Ready to head out?" Touya leaned against the doorframe as Midoriya and I discreetly slipped on our shoes.
"Yup. Are you sure it's okay if we join you for tonight?" Midoriya seemed tense, a little unease in fact. But this was all for the great good of having the stench of burnt rubber fly up to our nostrils and become one with the road along with speed. We stealthily crept out the window and shut it without making too much noise. Then we were off on the streets.
