Present Day.

I took the strands of white hair above my left eye and wrapped them around my head. Pinned the hair with a bobby pin then took my band to hid the white hair that opposed my curly black hair .Put on my brown contacts to hid my unusual silver-grey eyes contrasting my chocolate skin tone. Ran my hands down the Mama Bear cafe attire to straighten it, a navy short dress with two yellow strips on the shoulders and the yellow Mama Bear logo by my left breast . It was my first day at work and i wanted to make a good first impression. I wore my wrist watch ,took my shades and keys than headed for the door whilst checking the time.

8:40 am

Good . I still had 20 minutes and since it was a walking distance i didn't need my car to make it to work.

The bell jingled as i walked through the door. The lady behind the counter with shoulder-length wavy strawberry blonde hair,wearing the same uniform as i made her way to me. She introduced herself as Maya and showed me how everything worked in the cafe. Customers who ordered take outs made their way to the counter, and customers who ate in needed a waiter.

Maya thought it would be best if i served people so that they could get used to the new girl in town aka Me. And so i spent the majority of the morning wiping tables and serving customers.

" I thought you said not many people come here in the morning." I said placing the tray i was holding on top of the pile of trays.

"Its true " she paused " i guess gossip of the new girl in town travelled faster than i thought . I thought it would be packed by tommorow but clearly you have caught the eyes of the people in Pinsville" i inwardly groaned " don't worry most of the people here are just here to observe you ,tommorow it won't be this full"

"How long will i be under their scrutiny?"

"Just don't cause a scene or do anything weird. They will forget about you within a few days. " she advised. " nothing ever happens in Pinesville ,these old ladies just want something to gossip about."

"As long as nobody is up in my business than am fine"

"Honey this is a small town everybody is on to your business"

The bell jiggled as yet another group of old women entered.

I groaned.

This was going to be a long day.

Despite Pinesville gossip problems. I liked it here i had not seen anyone with a dark cloud hanging over their head. Even the old ladies weren't dying anytime soon. It was refreshing not having to feel guilty trying to avoid eye contact with a person i knew would be dead in the next twenty-four hours.

I don't think i will be leaving Pinesville anytime soon. The people were friendly . The air was fresh . The whole energy of this place was just amazing. Talking to the inquisitive towns people,even though i hate to admit it ,brought joy to my heart but they did ask many ,many, many personal questions.

I sipped my coffee as i recalled the conversation i had with the three woman who were trying to hook me up with their grandsons.

" You know Mariah don't you think Bella would be perfect for Josiah" the red head, Daisy, said facing the dark skin toned woman.

" Josiah !" she chuckled,shaking her head " Bella here needs a strong man who will protect her . Like my grandson." She turned to face me ,taking my hand into her palms. " You know my grandson , Danial, he is the sheriff of this town "
