chapter 2

      I remember the day I met him like it was yesterday the sky was a blueish green much like it has been since the virus started and their where no clouds. My 6 year old girl had just fallen down and knocked a tooth out of her head and my hands where covered in blood from her scraped knee. I sware that girl was supposed to be born a boy. Her name was Kody and it definitely fit she had a freckles on her tiny face a black eye and Brown hair I had sent her off to play when I saw him standing there.
        Normally we don't see the boy we are paired with until we are 16 but I saw him. And I knew it was him because I was given his name and what he looks like. The girls were playing in the park and he was watching from his side of the gate which lets be honest that is a bit creepy. It was creepy honestly they way he stood there in his outfit dirty from playing in the dirt his hair a mess and in need of a wash. but I believe now he was just curious. He had blonde hair and blue eyes the kind you get lost in . He was warring the standard yellow shirt and black pants. His smile was crooked and his ears where to big for his head his hair stuck every which way but down and his nose didn't quite fit his face yet but that would change later on.
         None the less I walked up to him with a curious look on my face. my long black hair hung braided over my shoulders with into Dutch braids and my standard yellow shirt and black skirt that all the girls wore in my camp honestly I hated that skirt with a burning passion it was itchy and honestly quite to long for running and jumping in the playground . My green eyes held his like he was the only one I saw and in that moment he was. The other boys had came up to the gate to see us girls like they did every day. " Hi..." He said as I walked closer " Hello there boy" I replied as I looked behind me to make sure the elders weren't watching. "my names Louie" he said as I rolled my eyes " I know your name funny." I told him before looking down the gate. " I'm GraceLynn" I told him before the siren started to wale indicating that it was time for class. " Meet me here after the bedtime siren please. " I told the boy I didn't know why I had told him that either maybe it was because our souls where already paired or whatever the elders told us. I say its all bull scrap in my opinion. As I turned around to walk away I thought I should let him know" also you have stuff on your face like every where" I told him before running off to gather my girls. My youngest girl was two her name was Erin and I loved that girl like my own..now that I say that out loud she kinda was my own. I lined my girls up and headed to take them to class. Each age had their own class mine was the very last door on the left. I took each of my girls to each of their classes before I got to mine. Once in mine I saw my best friend Jenna talking to some other girls I don't remember their names very well but I over hurd their conversations as I sat down.
      "My mates name is James and he is so adorable " one girl said the other giggled " Mines name is Trevor and he's so cute" the girl told Jenna. They all knew Jenna's mate was sick and we didn't know if he'd make it  I placed hand on Jenna's shoulder and gave it a soft smile. " Jenna's mate is named hector and he's so adorable. " I told the girls as we giggled about the likes and dislikes of our future husbands. Then the Elder came in " GraceLynn your birthday is in three days you'll be going onto the next camp" she told me and I looked down " yes ma'am " I said not sure if I was ready or not. The rest of the day was a blur as I thought about the next camp. I was one of the older girls the rest of the girls in my class had just turned ten and I didn't know if I was ready to be a wife. I was honestly quite scared to be a wife. I couldn't wait to talk to Louie tonight to see what he thought about it. I knew his birthday was close to mine. So maybe we would try celebrating it together.
