The next time I bolted awake I was surrounded by Tobias, Nik, Ace, Mikal, Alister, Drac, Locke, and Clause were all looking at me. I had woken up again due to being stabbed. Will I ever have any other dreams? "What," I asked them, feeling slightly annoyed that they were just staring at me. "We've been trying to wake you for the last hour," Mikal said to me. "I can't be woken up," I told them. "So we've learned," Ace said looking at his watch. "Nothing new," I told them. "So why were you guys trying to wake me up?" "Because of this," Alister said, handing his phone to me. "Zina sent this to me earlier this morning." I took the phone and saw it was of me dancing last night. However, it's not my performance he was talking about. It's the man watching intently from off to the side of the stage. The gold in his eyes, sent chills down my spine. The recording then went to a street camera where I was walking the figure staying a good distance away as I made my way to Drac's bar. I was followed and I didn't know it.
Then it went to a street camera view of him on the side of Drac's bar, looking in the window. In the corner you see Alister coming in, and the man looks down at him. He looks back in for a moment then leaps from the window to the neighboring building. The video ends there. I replay the video, capturing as many features as I can. I don't recognize them. "Who is this," I asked, handing him back the phone. "Think back to high school sis," Mikal told me. I went over everyone I knew mentally. "Chad Brewer," I said running a hand through my hair. "But how the hell can he jump like that? And how come I didn't notice him?" "He is practicing black magic," Ace told me. "After doing a back ground check, his parents reported him missing shortly after your high school graduation. Police didn't look into it, thinking it was just another eighteen year old who decided to spread his wings. Turns out, he has been working with Madeline Cornfin. Got any idea why this kid would be stalking you?"
I scoffed, "Would you like that list in chronological or alphabetical order? He was the goth kid that had a thing for me since middle school. I was nice to him one time because we had to work together on a science project, and he developed this obsession for me. In school he finally worked up the nerve to ask me out. I told him I wasn't interested." "I once found him lurking in the tree by her bedroom window, trying to watch her undress," Mikal told them. "I threatened that if I caught him again, he would need an ambulance." "He'll need a body bag," Alister growled softly.
"I haven't seen him since graduation, so I have no idea why he is following me all of the sudden," I told them. "Madeline is with those who want the veil to fall. She probably already knows by now your role and lead her little apprentice to you," Drac said, looking slightly annoyed. "What would she have to gain if the veil falls," I asked him. "She can get her hands on the magical items that are kept on that side of the veil," He answered. "That's the last thing we need," Nik grumbled. "So what do we do now," I asked Alister. "Use you as bait to lure him close, then catch him," Locke said with a shrug. "Not happening," Mikal told him with a glare. "The bastard uses black magic. It won't be pretty if he manages to get close enough to her." "Magic doesn't work on her," Drac pointed out to Mikal. "No, but this man is insane, who knows what he'll do," Mikal countered.
I had a plan form in my head, this one involving Alister. "He didn't seem too happy with those guys watching my performance," I pointed out. "He may just mess up if he sees me with someone." "And who do you have in mind," Alister asked me. I met his eyes, "Well Alister, you'll have to pretend that you don't hate me for it to work." He chuckled softly, "I don't hate you Ms. Charles. Far from it actually." Locke scoffed, "Oh good God, did you forgive the girl alread Alister?" Alister shrugged, his smile dropping to a glare, "That business is between us. It will be in your best interest to leave it that way."
After we discussed the final details and I changed, Alister took me back to his house. I went up the stairs to my room, and changed into dress my parents would never let me out of the house in. It was a white halter style dress that stopped mid thigh and hugged my body. I paired it with a pair of gold gladiator heels, my leather jacket, a gold purse that I was able to fit my whip into, and a gold pair of earrings. I curled my hair and did a smokey eye and red lips. I went down the stairs, and Alister's eyes followed me like a predator's stalking it's prey.
"This is the only time I will allow you to leave the house like that," He told me huskily. "And why is that," I asked him, my eyes noting the hard on in his pants. "Because this is the only time I have permission to touch you," He told me. "And if I told you, you have my consent to touch me whenever you'd like," I asked him. "That is another situation entirely that still would result in me not letting you leave the house," He said before leading me to the back door to the garage.
He drove at a more slower pace today, trying to see if Chad follows us. Alister took me to a strip of the city that was filled with clubs, shops, restaurants, and bars. He parked and moved at the blink of an eye that had him on my side, opening the door for me. "I see chivalry hasn't left you entirely," I commented with a small smile. "This is a date, is it not," He asked with a soft smile of his own. He wrapped an arm around my waist and lead me down the street to one of the clubs. We got in easily, and Alister took me to the VIP area. We went to the dance floor they had and I enjoyed the feel of his hands on my hips. Dancing was something I loved to do, but with Alister, it was a whole other experience that had my breasts feeling heavy, and my skin hot.
"He's in the corner," He whispered huskily in my ear, before allowing his nose to venture down the side of my neck. I tilted my head to the side, biting back a moan. The intensity between us was thick. We needed Chad to screw up and attack though. Alister wasn't going to make a scene in such a public place. We were to lead him to the alley.
Alister took my hand when the song ended and we left. The cold breeze couldn't cool my hot skin. Alister then pushed me against the wall in the alley, his lips on mine. I moaned, my arms coming up and wrapping around his neck. The sound of someone uttering a spell and running towards us made him break the kiss. He caught Chad by the neck, slamming him against the wall. "Why have you been following me Chad," I asked, pulling my jacket around me tighter. "You belong to me," He choked. "My Mistress said if I did everything she asked of me, then I could have you." "Sorry to burst your bubble, but I gave myself to someone else," I told him. Both of them looked at me then, but I wasn't looking away from Chad. "But Mistress Madeline said she slipped the potion into your drink, that you would soon be crawling to me," He said. I raised an eyebrow, "What drink?" I then thought about the possible beverages I've had that someone had the chance to slip something into. The only chance was at the cafe when we met Mikal and Ace. "I thought that tea tasted like crap," I muttered. Nik and Locke then arrived. Alister threw Chad at them, his eyes never leaving me. Nik and Locke quickly took Chad away.
"Who did you give yourself too," Alister asked me. I felt my cheeks warm, "I only said it piss him off." The lie sounded fake even to me. I don't know why I said it. It just blurted out to be honest. Alister had a small smile on his lips, "Shall we finish our date Stormy?" It was the first time he had called me by my first name and it did weird things to me. I nodded, "Lead the way Alister."
