It was a quiet day at the local fire station in Pontypandy. Quite perfect to be honest. The sun was shining, there was a slight breeze, and it was a comfortable 70°. Lead firefighter, Samuel Jones and his fellow firefighters were preparing for a day of various training exercises. It was still rather early, and Sam was enjoying a cup of tea outside on the station’s balcony as Penny Morris, Ellie Phillips, and Arnold McKinley happily chatted inside. Elvis Cridlington, as usual, was cooking breakfast for the team. He smiled to himself, content with everything. He knew it was going to be a quiet few days as the local village terror, Norman Price was away at his grandparents’ house to visit. The sound of the balcony door opening interrupted his thoughts.

“Morning Sam,” greeted Station Officer Steele. “Ah, good morning sir,” he greeted and saluted. “Are you and the team ready for your training exercises?” Station Officer Steele asked. “Yes sir, right after breakfast,” Sam affirmed. Just then they heard a crash from the kitchen. Sam cringed. ‘Oh dear,’ he thought. They rushed inside to see if anyone was hurt. When they came in, poor Elvis was practically buried in pans and skillets while the rest of the team were trying to unbury him. “Great Fires of London! What happened Firefighter Cridlington?!” he asked shocked! “I’m sorry sir! I I don’t know what happened!” Elvis stuttered. “The shelf came down as Elvis was reaching for a pan,” explained Penny. “Oh dear! We’ll have to have that fixed.” Station Officer Steele said. “Here Elvis, let me help you up,” Arnold said offering out his hand. “Thanks Arnold.” He said with a gentle smile. “Oh! You’re bleeding!” Sam told him. Elvis reached up and touched his head where there was a lovely gash. “Oh dear. No wonder my head hurt.” “Come on Elvis, I’ll stitch it up Ellie told him. “Thanks Ellie,” Elvis said gratefully. ‘so much for a quiet morning,” Sam thought, shaking his head. “While Ellie’s fixing up Elvis, I’ll help you guys clean up. Can someone finish cooking breakfast please?” “I’ll finish breakfast Sam,” volunteered Penny. “Thanks Penny,” Sam said. Penny just smiled and nodded. It didn’t take long to clean up the mess. They carried on with their day as they normally do. They sat down at breakfast together, Mike Flood came to fix the shelving, and they had a full day of training. Elvis was fine, but he had to have four stitches where a cast iron skillet hit his head. All in all a nice, MOSTLY quiet day. The team had no idea of the storm that would be hitting them in the days to come.

A prison in Cardiff was in a full riot! The alarms were on full blast and the shouts of prisoners and guard alike filled the common area. “PUT YOUR HANDS ON YOUR HEAD!” a guard shouted while others could be heard shouting, “GET DOWN ON THE GROUND!” It was pandemonium! Cardiff hadn’t seen a riot this bad in years! The guards worked tirelessly to contain the prisoners. “Are you ready?” asked a short, tattooed prisoner with dark hair. The tall blond man beside him nodded silently. With all the guards distracted by the riot, they could try and make a break for it. “I’ve been ready. And with your help I can finally get revenge on Fireman Sam,” the blonde seethed. “Easy there. You’ll get your revenge. Be patient for a little longer my friend,” the dark-haired man told him with a nasty smirk, then he said. “All right. There’s our window, let’s go.”
