Connor didn't know how to comprehend the information he obtained. The doctor stared at him as the information that was gathered unfazed him. Words were trying to form in the youths mind before they started to spill from his lips.
"Created it? What do you mean Dr. Collins?"
The flower was itself a sight to see with the rarity of colors. It was also associated with the Damn Hybrids and their destruction they caused. Looking back, he sees the cogs working in the mind of Dr. Anthony Collins.
"Daniella almost died from the injury Anon Jones inflicted on her. Without realizing, one of the witnesses recorded the event. That footage was handed over to the authorities."
"Then what did you need Daniella's watch for?" The doctor indicated for Connor to have a seat on the couch.
"If it wasn't for the substance she placed on herself, she would of died." His voice was grave as he grabbed the cane. Making his way across the office to sit in the arm chair that was across the glass coffee table. "The video was for us to see what was wrong with her."
"She seems fine to me-"
"Now she's fine. She was induced for two days when she was in the infirmary. The bullet dissolved mostly into her blood stream, causing iron poisoning. The substance on her body when she came in was what caused us to question what happened to her. That's when she handed over her watch to us. Voluntarily."
"All I know is that she won't tell me. That's why she wanted me to get her watch back."
"You have it now." Dr. Collins pointed his cane to the file that was still on the couch. "Your choice to watch it or I could tell you the gist."
Connor didn't respond. He knew watching it could give him the answers that he needed. But there was her doctor sitting in front of him that could also explain the same.
"The stuff in the jar is the answer. Daniella was about to do something unthinkable but her consciousness told her not to. The jar of mud had the same substance she was coated in. It has a property that hasn't been seen since the days of Alchemists."
Alchemy was a practice as old as time and space. A method that was replaced with the study of scientific research and technology advancements. A man of Dr. Collins who was raised in the new era shouldn't know about old proceedings.
"That got me thinking, what properties it can do?" Pulling the pot off the ledge, he placed it on the clear table. The blue light reflecting off to cast thin shadows on the walls. "That's when I placed it to an experiment."
"So Daniella brought this to you?"
"She was the one who created this secretion."
Connor stared at the flower, not being able to wrap his head around the small plant that looked innocent. He stared back into the golden eyes of the doctor.
"Daniella coated herself in this liquid meant for the young hatchlings. The video shows that a mother came up from the depths to warm her young. The liquid was a form of identification for her to make sure they were all accounted for. It's almost as similar as the metal secretion they shed to create the structures but before maturity hits."
Dr. Collins got up from his seat to place the flower back where it belonged. He leaned over to grab the folder that was near Connor. Opening it, he pulled out a picture of the liquid that was extracted from the soil. The silver substance that had a few cursive words and symbols scrawled across the page.
"It can heal to a degree. A type of fluid the hybrid monsters that terrorized us for years have. It'll be hard to capture one but that's what your friend is for."
