Klaus

Everything's been piling up since the company merge and it's quite hard to get the Forbes family to agree with anything. The board could've dealt with that without me, why did they have call me saying it was so important. Doesn't anyone know how to manage anything without me?

Maybe someone.

I scroll through the phone numbers on my contacts. Found it. I dialed the number and he picked up after a couple rings.

"Brother, what a surprise." he said.

"Elijah, been a long time, I need your help, you think you can take a break from managing that hotel of yours to help your younger brother?" I ask smirking.

He chuckled, "Ah I knew you wanted something since you never call, and perfect I've been getting sick of the same old, why not? I'll take a flight there soon. Although I am curious, what is it you need help with? You've been doing well for the past years."

"Let's just say our family tree's getting bigger. I'll save the surprises for later."

"Okay then, I'll see you and Bekah soon." he replied.

"Okay thank you." I hung up.

I chuckled, I needed his help with the company, there won't be any relaxing.

I get out of the office and start to drive home.

I enter the house and realize I haven't eaten yet. Normally I would cook but I'm too tired from staring at all those papers. It wouldn't be too bad to order take out sometimes.

Should I ask Hayley if she wants anything? I look around the kitchen and noticed she didn't cook anything, there weren't bowls in the sink either so maybe she hasn't eaten.

I walked upstairs and knocked on her door.

"Hayley?"

No answer.

"Hayley?"

I open the door to see no one there. I looked around the house, she wasn't anywhere.

"Hayley?"

After a while I realize Aiden wasn't here either. "Aiden?" I call out.

She must've taken the dog with her. I take my phone out to call her before I remember, I don't have her number.

It's 8:16, what would she even be doing outside? I get back in my car to drive around and look for her.

Hayley

Tyler, the kids, and I, split up to find the dog and I've been looking for nearly two hours now.

I go back to the park and see Tyler near the bench. "Did you guys find him?" I ask.

"No I'm sorry." Tyler replied.

"It's okay it's not your fault." I smile.

"It's getting late, I need to take the kids back, you should probably head home too, maybe you'll find him tomorrow."

"Okay, thank you, goodbye." I wave at the children.

Well, that was a lie, because I'm not going home just yet. Klaus and I aren't on good terms already, I don't need to make it worse by telling him I lost his girlfriends dog. I'm still going to keep looking.

I walk back to the café, maybe Aiden came back here. Then a car honks at me and it parks right next to the café.

Klaus came out of the car and I gulped.

"Hayley, where have you been?" he asked.

I gulped, "I've just been walking around here."

"Where's Aiden?"

I bit my lip.

"Hayley, where's Aiden?" he repeats.

"I-I don't know. I lost him." I say looking down.

He curses under his breath. "How do you lose a dog if you're holding the leash?"

"Well, some kids wanted to play with him, so I let him go."

"Damn it Hayley, if you can't take care of a dog, how do you even expect to be a mother?"

I opened my mouth to say something back, but what? He was right.

"I'm sorry."

"We're looking for him right now, I don't care if it takes us until dawn. We aren't stopping till we find him." he answers dismissing my apology.

I nodded, "okay."

We walked around town, looking through every corner, calling out Aiden's name. I checked my watch, it was already 9:39 and my legs were getting tired. I sighed to myself, well I have to suck it up, I lost the dog.

We walked and walked, back and forth, the town, then the park, in case he came back. It was already 10:56 and it was getting colder. I wrapped my jacket around myself tighter and stuffed my hands in my pockets.

When we turned the corner I noticed a little brown furry spot in the middle of the road, Aiden. A big truck was coming from the right lane, ready to hit him. So I ran, I crossed the street right before the truck came, grabbed the dog and crashed onto the opposite sidewalk while the truck honked, swerving.

I panted and tried to get up seeing some scratches on my hands and I feel a slight pain on my jaw and side.

"Hayley!" Klaus called, crossing when the stoplight lit up.

I tried to pick the dog up but then Klaus lifted my face up with his hand and inspected my face looking for scratches or cuts.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

I smiled, "yeah."

I winced as he pressed the ice pack to the side of my face. "Ow."

"Hayley what you did was incredibly stupid. What made you think of running out into the road, the truck could've hit you." he lectured.

"I know, but if I didn't, then Aiden would be dead and it would be my fault."

"But what if you hadn't made it to the sidewalk in time? What then? You'd both be dead."

I bit my lip, "I know, I'm sorry."

He closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose, "Don't. You don't have to apologize, although that was incredibly stupid, and you lost him in the first place, you did save him. Thank you."

I woke up when the sun shone through my window and radiated on my face. I didn't wanna get up so I walked over to the window and closed the blinds.

Ready to go back to bed, with the perfect amount of darkness, then the doorbell rang.

Ignore. Klaus will get it.

The doorbell kept on ringing, where was Klaus? I grabbed a pillow and covered my ears but it didn't work, I could still hear the annoying bell. So, I got up and walked lazily down the stairs in my grey tank top and leggings.

"It's about time, Klau-" a voice said when I opened the door.

There was a man with dark hair and a tux.

"and who might you be?" he asked.

"I'm Hayley, who are you?"

"I'm Elijah, Elijah Mikaelson. I'm Klaus's brother."
