When I say this, I mean challenge yourself. Don't watch or know what the original source material is, go in blindly.
Throughout the day, try to come up with ideas what the plot could be, and where the characters fit in with the plot.
This is what I do to see the fandom of a series/movie saga/comic before I get into it, it's a bit of a sneak peek.
Here's how you can do it:
• Look at fanart
• Read fanfiction (AUs if you want a real challenge)
• watch an AMV
• watch a YouTube video of someone who loves it (spoilers may occur)
This is really fun, but perhaps you're content in your fandom already.
