The soft but loud noise of the faucet flowing in water as Y/N washed her face. The sound echoing off the walls of the small bathroom she was in. The soon to be eighteen year old smiling as happily as she could at herself in the mirror. The subconscious giggle slipping out from between her lips as she wiped off the soapy suds from her face.
Her face now feeling as fresh as it could possibly feel after washing it throughly. She looked into the mirror again after a few long moments of rinsing off her face with the warm water. Her eyes trailing over her own features to see if anything had changed or improved somehow; despite already knowing that there most likely wasn't any change. She tilted her head just as a single water droplet fell off her chin and onto the sink where her hands were resting.
"You never listen... rinse your face with cold water." A gentle but patronizing voice entered her ears suddenly.
She turned to the sound of her best friends voice and lightly smiled her way at the girl who was patiently leaning against the doorframe. Her hand clutching her now locked phone as her eyes looked over the somewhat messy sink.
"And why should I do that?" Y/N replied with another smile and her best friend squinted her eyes in a playful manner.
"I guess you'll get wrinkles early then. Don't come complaining to me at thirty when you have more wrinkles than a sixty year old ballsack." Camila her best friend spoke up with the usual sarcastic tone in her voice.
Y/N laughing as she continued to turn to the mirror and blindly grab her skin moisturizer. Y/NN's eyes continuing to look at herself and Camila leaned her head against the doorframe once more. She wondered what went through Y/N's head at these times it was almost as if she could be thinking of everything or nothing all at once.
"You can stop staring now, I get it, I'm gorgeous." Y/NN glanced back at her best friend and Camila just held that smile on her lips.
It was like it was just only for her.
Y/N, again, chuckled and turned to her brown eyed friend with a knowing smile. She moved past her presence to walk into her room across the hall. Camila following closely while Y/N rushed to get ready once her gaze fell to her alarm clock. She didn't have much time until she'd be late for school, it wasn't like she cared all that much; there was only a couple months left of their senior year anyway. She just didn't like the feeling of holding Camila back cause she knew her best friend wouldn't leave her behind.
"Are you ready now, slowpoke?" Camila questioned with a slight snort and Y/N jumped up and turned around as she slipped the shirt past her shoulders.
"Yes!"
That happy smile appeared on her face once more and she grabbed her book bag. Her feet now stepping forward with a quick pace and moving past Camila. Making her way down the stairs to greet her parents with that same bright smile. The bags under their eyes silently telling their only daughter that they had been up all night as perusal. They still managed a smile back to her even though she knew deep down they were tired; she looked down at the paper her father was writing on.
"Everything okay?" She asked quite chipper to keep up the good energy around them.
"Just upcoming bills that's all, kiddo." The man's voice hoarsely came out and he ended up clearing his throat.
Y/N thought to herself for a second as she untwisted the cap of the orange juice bottle. Camila rubbing the belly of the family's Husky while it was Y/N's turn to clear her throat. She turned back to them and gulped down the orange juice she poured in her cup.
"Don't worry too much, I get paid today." She then gave him a small polite smile and both, her dad and mom tried objecting.
"Hey, now, Y/NN we don't need your help we have this under control-"
