"SAN FRANSOKYO INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY COMPETITION-- interesting.." I wasn't aware Mr. Lane, my Biotech Professor, thought I was eligible enough for a University level competition. Heck, I don't even know why he gave me the damn thing. At least he acknowledges my potential.
I set the flyer down on my already cluttered desk. But, hey, I could always consider it.. However, I couldn't at the moment, due to the excessive and outrageous (with emphasis) homework given to me from my AP Literature and Biotech classes. They were the sources for 99.999999% of my stress. I believe that is an accurate representation of how I feel.
So, currently a 17 year old attending San Fransokyo High, I was set on becoming a Biotech scientist. In my opinion, it was cool being able to interact with potentially hazardous species which would hopefully, one day, improve life as we know it. That is, only if we manipulate it for the appropriate purpose. I took the AP Lit class because I absolutely love vocabulary usage, reading comprehension, and observing writings from different time periods.
To take my mind off of homework (and school in general), I trudged to my bathroom and splashed cold water on my face, then damped it with a soft towel. I kind of regretted it-- that towel smelled weird.
"Violet! Your dinner is ready. You better not stress about your test at the table!!" my mother interrupted.
"Yeeh mum. I'll be therr. Just gimme ah few," I replied, my voice muffled by the towel.
Like I was saying, I'm hoping that a decent university will accept me. SFIT seems like a prestigious school and all, but I'm not certain I could handle all that. But I'm also not sure what other university I'm going to!! There'd be housing arrangements, parking fees, waking up super early, you get the gist. Of course, my mother and father, being the most supportive parents in the world, would encourage me to apply to SFIT. Honestly, it wouldn't hurt to try.
But, as I returned to my desk, I picked up the flyer again out of curiosity. There was some sophisticated, eye-catching text at the bottom that read:
"One participant who shows their worth and brilliance to the judges with an exemplary experiment will receive a free ride to SFIT, provided by Professor Callaghan himself. Good Lu--"That's all I needed to see.
