Manus came across a field. This was the local baseball field, and one of Manus's favourite spots to be at when he was alone. Now, the games have ended for the day and Manus pretty much owns the place. He wandered into the field of grass, feeling the light shine down on him. It felt like he was important. Looking around, he spotted the baseball gear just lying there. Manus decided to take this to another level.
"Bottom of the ninth tie score, and exactly who you wanted a plate with the game on the line: Manus!"
"But, staring him down from the pitcher's mound is the most fearsome southpaw in the woods: Also Manus!"
"Alright, focus Manus. If you win this round you will be the most beloved kid in all of the woods."
Yes, Manus is playing by and against himself. He, right now, has three different roles: the batter, the pitcher and the ref. The ref signaled Manus through various different handshakes the young hedgehog have learned over the years.
"Hit it to the guy in left, he's a real space case."
That "guy in left" was a newly recruited fielder and strangely was obsessed with gum.
"Ugh...I can't with that guy..."
"Eh, batter Manus, eh, batter Manus is so in a batter Manus!" The catcher announced, knees bent and ready for his catch. The pitcher threw the ball and the batter hit it as far to the left as he possibly can. The fielder was a bit out of focus and he was way to late when the ball came flying to him.
"I got it! I got it!" He assured, but as he leapt to catch the ball, he missed it quite expectedly. "I don't got it..."
The batter dropped the bat and began running. The pitcher left his spot, ran to the baseball and aimed it at the racing batter. The ball just barely missed him as he past the second base.
"Go home! Go home!" The coach called out, pointing and waving his hat in the direction of the home base.
"Come on!" The catch awaited the speeding ball heading his way. The batter took his last leap and slide right into home base. The moment the batter slid pass the base, the catcher caught the ball.
"Safe!"
The batter realised that he had won by the time he had slid at least a metre from the base.
"Oh! Yes! Yes, yes, yes! I did it! Did you see that?! I did it!" The batter raised his hand up for a high-five, but there was no one.Manus was the batter, Manus was the pitcher, Manus was the fielder, Manus was the catcher. Manus was everyone...and no one else was here. No one was there to give Manus a high-five.
"I really am alone...all alone, forever..." He admitted, then he ran. He ran, and ran and ran around the field. His foot hit the home base every second. Manus was upset, he remembers everything. It's my fault...it's all my fault.
It's was me...I killed them...
I killed them...
They died for me...
I killed them...
I killed them...
I KILLED THEM!!!!Manus let out a shout as all the emotions he had bottled up released from his body and a bright aqua explosion shut down every single light across the entire country, even the satellites from outer space.
"I'm sure no one saw that big giant explosion...right?"
And with that, Manus vanished.
