In the briefing room, Steve Rogers, Captain America, watched until the monitor he looked at went black. Thor, who didn't even look, just stood there, torn apart because of the imprisonment of his brother Loki. The rest, Bruce, Lucy, and Natasha, just we're there too, stunned in silence, doing nothing in peculiar. Until--

"He really grows on you, doesn't he?" Bruce suddenly asked while adjusting his glasses.

Steve, who was still dressed in his battle suit, nervously tapped his fingers on the table he sat at. "Loki's gonna drag this out." He looked up at Thor, who paced through the room. "So, Thor, what's his play?" he asked him.

Thor looked at him. "He has an army called "The Chitauri". They're not of Asgard or any world known, " he explained. He approached the table where the rest sat. "He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the earth. In return, I suspect, for the Tesseract, " he theorized.

Steve frowned. "An army? From outer space?"

Lucy nodded, putting the pieces together. "So he's building another portal. That's what he needs Erik Selvig for."

Thor raised his eyebrows when he heard what she just had said. "Selvig?" he echoed.

Bruce took off his glasses and nodded. "He's an astrophysicist."

Thor blinked. "He's a friend."

Nat raised an eyebrow. "Loki has him under some kind of spell, along with one of ours, " she explained while referring to her friend Hawkeye.

"I wanna know why Loki let us take him." Steve looked at Bruce. "He's not leading an army from here."

Bruce fiddled with his glasses. "I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy's brain is a bag full of cats, you could smell crazy on him." Lucy chuckled.

Thor raised his eyebrows at them. "Have care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard, and he's my brother, " he defended.

Nat rolled her eyes slightly and looked up. "He killed eighty people in two days."

Thor blinked awkwardly. "He's adopted."

"I think it's about the mechanics." Lucy sighed. "Iridium... What did they need the Iridium for?" she questioned.

At that moment, Tony Stark, Iron Man, a genius, self-adoring billionaire, walked in with Agent Phil Coulson. "It's a stabilizing agent." Then, he turned to Coulson and quietly told him: "I'll fly you there. Keep the love alive." Coulson left as Tony turned back to the group. "Means the portal won't collapse on itself, like it did at S.H.I.E.L.D." He turned to Thor. "No hard feelings, Point Break. You've got a mean swing." He tapped Thor's arm. "Also, it means the portal can open as wide and stay open as long as Loki wants."

Tony then turned to the crew. "Uh, raise the mid-mast, ship the topsails, " he commanded. He then pointed at one of the crew. "That man is playing GALAGA! Thought we wouldn't notice, but we did, " he exclaimed. Stark covered one of his eyes to imitate Fury and looked around. "How does Fury do this?"

One of the Agents, Maria Hill, dryly replied: "He turns."

Meanwhile, without anyone's notice, Tony looked around the monitors and placed a button size hacking implant under Fury's desk. "Well, that sounds exhausting." He sighed. "Well, the rest of the raw materials, Agent Barton can get his hands on pretty easily. Only major component he still needs is a power source. A high energy density, something to kick start the cube, " he clarified.

Lucy crossed her arms. "And I thought I was the nerd here, " she said so quietly to herself no one heard her.

Agent Hill also crossed her arms. "When did you become an expert in thermonuclear astrophysics?" she curiously asked Stark.

He casually turned to her. "Last night." Hill frowned. "The packet, Selvig's notes, the Extraction Theory papers." When no one reacted understanding he threw his hands in the air in exasperation. "Am I the only one who did the reading?"

Steve looked at him, feeling a little frustrated. "Does Loki need any particular kind of power source?" he asked.

Bruce started to pace. "He's got to heat the cube to a hundred and twenty million Kelvin just to break through the Coulomb barrier, " he explained.

Tony frowned thoughtfully. "Unless Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunneling effect."

Lucy leaned back in her chair. "Well, if he could do that, he could achieve Heavy Ion Fusion at any reactor on the planet, " she theorized.

"Finally, someone who speaks English, " Tony commented while he approached Bruce.

Steve looked around the room. "Is that what just happened?"

Tony shook Bruce's hand. "It's good to meet you, Dr. Banner. Your work on anti-electron collisions is unparalleled, " he complimented. "And I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster, " he added.

Lucy groaned and facepalmed. Bruce looked a bit down. "Thanks, " he sarcastically replied.

Nick Fury entered the room and the conversation. "Dr. Banner is only here to track the cube, " he clarified. "I was hoping you might join him.

"Let's start with that stick of his, " Steve suggested. "It may be magical, but it works an awful lot like a HYDRA weapon." He looked at the others.

Fury looked at him. "I don't know about that, but it is powered by the cube." He sighed. "And I'd like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys."

Thor frowned. "Monkeys?" He blinked. "I do not understand--"

"I do, " Cap cut in while pointing at him. He proudly looked around and smiled shortly. "I understood that reference." Nat, Lucy, and Tony rolled their eyes.

Tony looked at Bruce. "Shall we play, doctor?"

Bruce nodded and led the way to the lab. "Let's play some, " he agreed.

Lucy stood up. "I'm joining the game, " she spoke before she followed them.

When the three of them left, the GALAGA-player turned ever so discreetly, watched as everyone else dispersed, and went back to playing.
