Mayina's transmigration

chapter three

When Jun saw Mayina looking at him,his heart skipped a beat he really likes her but she doesn't like him,he doesn't have to be a genius to know why, Mayina is a beautiful girl even the official wants her,what more of him a commoner day worker at the port,in a day he only earns 10 copper coins sometimes not a copper if business is not good,his house needs repair, he can't buy her new clothes,he tried his best,even though he likes to be clean not to an extent to bath in cold weather but because he knows she doesn't like the smell of sweat he baths before and after work in case they meet on the road but even when they meet she doesn't look at him neither does she acknowledge his greeting,everybody in his place of work knows he likes mayina,his joy is that they don't know she doesn't like him,when she shun him in public they believe she is shy,he also thank God that nobody knows about her relationship with that official he was still in deep thought when he heard a sweet voice calling his name

" Jun, Jun... Brother Jun are you ok"
"Uhm, mayina how are you feeling,......."he just turned his face and started talking to her father.......what is wrong with this guy mayina thought
"father, are you feeling better,i just came to drop this I will go now,........ before anyone could talk Jun disappeared

"Hahahaha,sis did you see that,Jun can go to Gram mountain to hunt but he can't face you,hahaha

"don't tease your sister like that Sander,"

"don't bother about him father, next time he hides from that village chief's daughter I will tell her where he usually hides "    everybody started laughing Sander hates that village chief's daughter she is fat,dark with short hair and doesn't like to bath

" we don't know why Jun left like that"

"mum, are you sure you don't know,ofcourse it's because of mayina,he doesn't want her to be angry "

"well,he didn't wait for the good news "

"mum, don't worry about Jun,if I bath I will go to his house to talk,dont look at me like that,i will go with sister"

"then wait till we finish dinner and take it to him,he brought two hens,this hares and rice,am sure he has nothing to eat in his house,this boy is a good man, but I don't know how to prepare wild hare meat"

"don't worry mum,i will cook "

Everybody : "....."

" stop I know how to cook,i just don't like to do it and aunt han give me some recipes " 

oh thank God for the previous owner learning medicine from aunt han if not how could I get away with this,am a chef in my previous life ready to compete for cooking master and I have that mystic stone.  .........oh did I cross over with it

"oh yes you did fool" a voice in my head answered

"you got to be kidding me, where are you "

"check the bracelet you are wearing,i remove one of bead and took it's appearance "

Oh thank God, I have you for company

"no no,its for my powers not company"

"OK OK everybody let's get busy, brothers help me skin the rabbits OK

I enter the kitchen and start getting busy, I dropped the mystic stone into the water pot at the kitchen,Jun really tired according to sister he bought the white rice,which I reckon is expensive than the brown rice,because brown rice has sand and that's what most villagers can afford,according to her if you will cook brown rice, you must start removing sand very early,the way she was looking at the rice was something,then I remembered from the memories that it's being long they ate rice,they paid sister's dowry and money for family separation,sister's family is messed up and that will be a story for another day,its one of the reason the original doesn't like her in the beginning.........

I washed the rice and cooked it with mystic water, the aroma coupled with the stone water started drifting... I wash the meat,boiled it with spices from the space in the mystic stone, I saw a basket of fresh "atargu" it's a name for chill pepper in northern Nigeria but sister said its poison,that it is mixed with some leaves to create pestides,i told her if it's used alone it wunt do anything,to be sure I asked stone,he said its samething and not poisonous... So I prepared rabbit peppered meat,braised rabbit meat,soup with rabbit meat and rice with stir fry cabbage and carrots,i packed some in a small wooden flask for Jun to keep warm before I finish dinner and shower
An hour later we where done with dinner,everybody praise the food especially the peppered meat, I took a quick shower, the original really learnt alot from anty han,she made soap from herbs and scented flowers even though it's not foamy it's removes dirt and smells nice.....
Jun's house was a bit far from our house because he lives at the outskirts of the village,we walked for 15minutes before we go to his house, the house was dark with no light,only a small hut with wooden gate, no wonder the original refuse to marry him,to leave her house and stay here will be like death sentence to her.

I told sister,we shouldnt knock I want to see what Jun is doing, I think he thought it must be one of his friends because he shouted

"don't you say your wife didn't give you food again, I also don't I have food for you"

and he came out with a boiled sweet potato in his hand, I felt my heart break, where can I find a man like Jun,apart from the chicken, he brought hares and rice for me just because the doctor said so and he came home to eat sweet potato,my eyes turn misty,i tried hard to control my tears even though am not the original mayina I think am falling in love with Jun.

"Hey, brother Jun I came to see you,....'sister let me talk to brother Jun in the room, pls give me a minute "
I pushed him inside the room
Before I could talk he stared apologizing

"mayina,am sorry I shouldn't have, but I didn't do it because you have to marry me,just be healthy,i will talk to father,we wunt get married, pls forgive me"

" brother Jun, am sorry,its not like I don't like you, that official threaten me that if I don't date him, he will kill father,sob....sob.... What will I do with a scum man like him, but now he has Mimi,he can't marry two concubine in the same village so am I free, if I showed that I like you even a little,your life will be miserable,he might take away your job,.....sob.... sob....

"mayina, don't cry pls "

"OK, hug me to stop crying,.... "..  .....well I know I lied but what should I do,i like this Jun, and from the memories I know I wunt like that scum official,so I better suck up to my husband first
Jun was shock,i know right I asked him to hug me, since he has turned to a block,i decided to hug him,until I heard sister's voice

"mayina, it's getting late...

"coming......

"Jun, I brought you food, don't eat sweet potato OK,lets talk tomorrow, come to the house early in the morning before you go to work,lets talk then ok" ......i tiptoed and kiss him on the check  before running out of the room
