Mayina's transmigration

Chapter 14

Mayina has forgiven Jun after a few days of not talking.

The house had already been completed,a three room house very simple in structure,with the living room having two doors,one from the outside which is the main door and one leading to the backyard and kitchen,mayina ask for this saying she doesn't like her kitchen at the frontage of the house like most houses in the village,one the main bedroom and the other smaller one serve as a guest or children's room in the future.

The wood for the furniture has already been arrange by Jun and the carpenter is almost done.

Its only a month to their wedding so both are busy preparing the necessary things needed in the house.

Lunchtime at mayina's house

The house this few days has been in a festive mood,they are not only happy that mayina is getting married but the house had been renovated and mayina also paid for the building of two extra rooms for her second and third brother,when first brother married they had to divide mayina's room into two,using one side for the two brothers.

Second and third brother were very happy,making wooden furniture's and decorating their room,the room was build big enough to be divided as a two room house if need be.

Well chatting happily and eating lunch,a storm was brewing and rushing towards mayina's house in less than half an hour,they started hearing voices approaching their house...

'You stupid girl,you think that useless Jac can save you let's see if he can afford a 5 sliver taels dowry, what nonsense you must marry the chief's son......

while the woman keep hitting and insulting the young girl,almost all the villagers gathered to watch the latest entertainment some with their bowl of rice after all this is lunch time...

When mayina's family came out everyone was pointing fingers and making a joke of second brother.

He has being engage to Jemi since her father was alive three years ago,after his death and mourning he went to fulfil the marriage rites but her stepmother sent him away asking for sometime to let her daughter accompany her, well he thought it was for his good maybe he can earn more money and add a room to the house but not only he didn't earn much but his family became poorer mainly because of the famine some years ago it crippled everybody, most people are getting back on their feet now but Jemi's stepmother is in need of money so she is trying to hook her up with the next village chief son,the guy is a known drunkard and womanizer no family will let  their daughter marry him but Jemi's stepmother insisted that she should marry him because she needs the money for Jemi's brother to get married.

Mayina got closer to her acting coquettish while whispering to her ears
'Aunty,listen to me I know a lot of people in town didn't you say you want Jeni(Jemi's sister from her stepmother) to marry into town I could introduced a few young masters to her but it depends on her luck but if you marry Jemi to this drunkard who will want to be inlaws with you, remember marriage is a union of families no matter how you live apart there are occasions you come together don't you think you will lose face by then but look at my second brother we are poor but he is presentable at least he can drink wine with town folks and not lose your face........
while mayina kept persuading her people around kept wondering what mayina is telling this money hungry ghost to make her face change color she even looks excited....

'Then,are you sure you are not lying to aunty to stale for time for your brother. ....

'Haba aunty no oo,just check it my brothers just finish building  two new rooms, we will borrow the money from a loan shark in town,I promise you tomorrow by noon we will come with the money for the dowry, five taels and no less.....

'OK,only because you will do a favour for Jeni,I will wait till an hour after noon if I don't see you and your relatives am taking her to that house'

'OK aunty, we will come,just let her dress well tomorrow not to make you lose face'

'Why does she need to dress well? Are you not just coming to pay the dowry and bring the wine.......

'Aunty remember Jeni, even if you don't want to,you can't let her go to her husband's house without a little dowry or a fairly new dress people will say you are stingy, who will want to marry with a stingy mother in-law....

'Ah ah mayina you are so good to auntie, well auntie will wait for your good news.......

With a smile she turned and walked to her house forgetting Jemi sobbing in sister in-laws hand.

While mayina turned to face all the villagers and said with a loud voice
' Everyone,my second brother's marriage has been settle for tomorrow at noon,please come to our house to drink the wedding wine,thank you very much your support right now you can go back to your houses'

When they heard 'support' everyone blush and rush to their houses feeling ashamed that the ridiculed Jac just a few moments ago

While others are thinking if the brothers had money,they will observe for a while if they truly have money then their daughters must quickly hook up third brother.
