Meeting The Lost (A Ranger's Apprentice Fanfiction)

Meeting His Love Again.

His breath became ragged, and his eyes widened in shock as he realised he was dying. Will closed his eyes, knowing it would do him no good to resist the clutches of death. Maddie leapt to her feet in shock, and started to shake her uncle.

"Uncle Will! Uncle Will! What's happening? Uncle Will! No! Dad's gone to get you help! Please..."

Will gave her a small smile, and at that moment Malcolm burst into the house, his satchel in hand. His eyes widened when he caught sight of Will, but he didn't hesitate. He ran to Will's side and sat down.

"You'll be fine, Will." He soothed, and got to work.

Will opened his eyes. He was in his cabin. There was an insistent ringing in his ears. He stared straight ahead, and was met with the sight of his familiar ceiling.

"His eyes are open! He's alive! Oh My God." He heard the voice of a young girl. Maddie, he realised. He looked to his left. He saw Malcolm and Maddie standing over him, watching him intently, their eyes shining with tears. His eyes wandered the room, catching sight of the things he had never noticed before. A small crack in the wall. A scratch on the door. The ringing in his ears became louder. His eyes searched the room, looking for the object causing this noise, and he caught a glimpse of white. He took a closer look and saw a sight that made his heart stop.

"Alyss...?" He managed to gasp, before his eyes closed once again.

It felt like hours of darkness.

He heard the sounds of Maddie crying.

Horace's unmistakeable voice yelling at the top of his lungs, "What happened? Is he okay?"

The sound of the cabin door opening.

Then silence.

The sounds of horses galloping.

Halt yelling, "What do you mean, gone? He can't die!" His words seemed to fade out.

Horace talking, his words too faint for Will to hear.

Then... Nothing.

He was standing up now, in his cabin. Will looked around. Everything seemed... brighter. More vibrant somehow. He searched the cabin, but no one was there.

"Horace? Malcolm, I'm okay!" he called.

No reply.

Puzzled, he walked out of the cabin. He saw Halt and Horace standing there, Maddie clinging helplessly to Horace. She didn't seem to be able to support her own weight. Will noticed the tears on her face, and the identical ones on Horace's face. Halt, shockingly, was shedding his own tears as well.

"Guys. Hello?" He said, but they didn't seem to notice. He went back inside the cabin, to find out what had gone wrong. Then he saw it.

In his bedroom. In his bed. It was him, blood on his chin. His body, lying on the bed with no life.

The truth was still far out of his reach. His mind was too shocked at this gruesome sight.

Then someone called his name.

"Will?"

Will turned around, and his eyes met the eyes of someone he had wanted to see, to hold, for years. Five years ago, this person had died. He didn't care if this was some sort of trick. He needed to hold Alyss again, just one more time.

He ran towards her, seeing the tears in her eyes. His arms outstretched in front of him, and then Alyss was there. His arms wrapped tightly around her, her face buried in his shoulder.

Then she was kissing him, and he felt no embarrassment, for he knew no one was watching.

"Alyss... Oh My God, Alyss. You're alive, you're alive." The words tumbled from his mouth, but then Alyss slowly pulled herself away.

"I'm so sorry Will." she sighed, "I'm not- I'm not alive. You died. You died..."

The truth slowly dawned on Will. But he wasn't as sad as he thought he would be. He was dead, but with Alyss beside him, he had never felt this alive.

A.N. And that's it, guys! I just felt like adding a short extra to the original Fan Fiction. I didn't feel that it should be connected to the first one, so I decided to make a small extra book.
