TAEHYUNG

I laid on one couch, simply staring out the window that looked like it was being washed, he storms never stopped and it kept getting harsher, lightning and thunder making a visit every few minutes. Through the rushing water falling on the window, I noticed a light flicker before it went out, slowly all the street lights went out similarly and it was starting to get worrying.

Looking towards the other couch where she laid in a position similar to mine, I stared at her resting figure with hooded eyes, lazy and sleep-deprived, only running on wine for the time being.

My stomach grumbled and I knew she heard it too, a curse fell out my lips and I shut my eyes when I heard her shuffle.

"Hungry?" She asked now sitting up.

"Hmm," I replied shortly.

"What's the point? Power's run out."

I said that and close my eyes again but I could hear her getting up, taking short strides as the room was held by darkness, even the slightest of light only showing us each other's figures.

"The stove would still work dummy, show me your stuff, let's see if there are any ingredients we could use," she said and I could swear I saw a little smile on her face.

Nodding and rubbing my eyes from the slight tire I felt I rose up, leading her to the kitchen in close proximity, making sure that we didn't trip over anything.

The torch I always kept on the bottom shelf came in hand as we used it for the time being. Here the sounds of rain were merely audible but the thunders still persisted. I asked Chaelin to hold the torch up for me while I took out some ingredients we could use but failed to find any.

Scratching my head I looked up at her from my crouched position.

"There's not much that could help but some fruits. I've got some instant soup too."

That said I turned the stove on and placed the pot for boiling the soup for a larger portion. Chaelin held the torch up, the light-emitting being used for the time being. It was horribly silent, only the sound of boiling water in the kitchen as either of us restricted from a proper conversation.

Not being able to hold the silence much longer, I broke out.

"Why did you apologize when I confessed Chaelin?" I asked and noticed how her eyes fell for a second. She looked up at me after, hands still holding the torch as I stirred the contents in the pot.

"I never wanted love Taehyung," she said and stopped.

I blinked confused before turning the stove off and taking the torch away from her hold, turning it off so it was completely dark now. I placed my hands on her sides, leaning her towards the counter as I held her as gently as I possibly could.

"Why do you think so?" I asked and waited to hear her response, the darkness not letting me see her fully but I could feel the tension between us right then. My arms held her carefully at her sides and I looked down at her.

"It only leaves pain and despair, I've seen it, I don't want any of it in my life, not one bit," she said and I knew she'd been through something that held her back.

"I love you too much to give you pain Chae," I said out without thinking, my eyes trying to find hers in the room restricted to light. She moved and soon enough I felt her head on my chest, resting there and I was able to feel her light breaths.

"I might have done wrong in the past and I might make mistakes in the future, I'm human too. But one thing I can promise is that I wouldn't be the reason for anything that takes away your trust from love. I'll be there for you baby," I said softly while resting my chin on the top of her head as she cuddled herself into my chest.

Her head lifts up and she smiles, warming my heart all over again.
