Atem x Y/n Modern AU

Chapter 3

You smile at them and give a little wave as they take their seats. You and Atem were already sat next to each other so Yugi sat next to Atem on his left, Téa sat next to you on your right, and then Joey was between Téa and Yugi.

"I heard that your in the same class as Atem. What year are you in?" Téa asked you with a curious but also suspicious look in her eyes.

"I'm a freshman, it's actually my first day" You respond and lightly rub the back of your neck in nervousness from her look.

"You're a freshman?! No way, you've got to be younger than Atem then!" Téa sounded shocked and seemed to be a little relieved.

"Oh, uh maybe? I'm 19, I'll be turning 20 in a few months, how bout you?" You asked Téa curiously.

"I'm 20 already, soon 21. Can I ask you something?" Téa leaned down a bit, whispering in your ear so no one heard her but you. You nod your head and lean away from Atem a bit to hear her better.

"Do you like Atem?" She asked in a hushed voice, paying attention to your facial expressions for any signs of a lie.

"No, I just met him today. He's handsome, sure but I don't know him yet. Go get 'em girl" You whisper back and pat her on the shoulder as you lean back from her. You see Téa blush a bit and then you turn towards the guys who seemed to be chatting very excitedly about something.

"What are y'all talking about over here?" You ask the guys leaning over to see what they were hovered around.

"We're just looking at some art for a card game on my phone" Yugi responded as he turned his iPhone around to show you. It was a version of dark magician, but in red.

"Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh, I have some cards but I mostly use the app since it's free" You said as you pulled out your phone.

"Cool!! What's your avatar look like?!" Joey asked excitedly.

"Animated" You respond, chuckling a bit at him.

"We should duel sometime," Joey says, also pulling his phone out. You started to pull up the game and go to your profile. You clicked on your icon and a menu came up with a character beside it. Atem peaked over your shoulder and smiled.

"You spent a lot of time on your avatar, didn't you?" Atem noted/asked out loud.

"Heh, ya I did." You chuckle and blush out of embarrassment. Téa was looking at you with a bit of jealousy and was confused as to why you were blushing. The waitress came back and took everyone's order. Soon y'all were all eating and chatting happily.
