We left the enclosure and Josh suddenly turned toward me, stopping in his tracks. I gave him a confused, and somewhat worried look. "What is it?" I inquired. He then gave me a determined smile and asked, "How would you like to be the main caretaker of the naga?" I raised my eyebrows and stood still for a few seconds. "What? Why me?" I asked, trying not to let on how thrilled I was. His smile never faded and he replied, "You heard me. I noticed that in just the first few minutes of you meeting him, that he was already affectionate and playful. He hasn't really reacted to anyone else that way yet." Slowly, a big grin found its way to my lips. I vigorously nodded. "Yes, I would love to!" I exclaimed with excitement and tackled him in a hug. "Thank you!" He chuckled and stumbled back, attempting to regain his balance. "Now now, don't thank me yet! We are just going to try this out for a bit and see how things go, ok?" He explained. I eagerly nodded again. "Thanks Josh!"
For the rest of that day, I spent my time doing the tasks that I had been assigned. Occasionally I would pass by where Elijah was at, and would get a sudden boost of energy and continue with a smile on my face. I went home that night and slept peacefully. The next day I woke, got ready for another day of work, and rushed out the door. I was excited to see Josh again! But mainly Elijah. He peaked my interest. It was interesting to hear that he warmed up to me so quickly, because he hadn't done so with anyone else. I wondered if there was something that I did to make him feel so comfortable around me, and if so, what was it?
