Bernard, at first, spent some spare time trying to find witches. Now, he almost completely abandoned his shop and I fear for the farm. I went out there yesterday with just Elinor and checked on everything. His crops were already planted and to be honest, I don't know what he grows particularly, but I don't think there's supposed to be holes, in the ground, that close between the seeds. Someone could be stealing them, and Bernard knows nothing about it because he's too busy chasing spirits. I got a bit angry, but told myself not to be, not at Bernard.
I was sewing my petticoat, since I accidently ripped them yesterday when I bent down to look in the empty earth, where Bernard's seeds should have been, and listened in on the children's conversation. They must not have known I was listening because Margaret asked Ralph where he went today. I heard him reply, "My friend and I played, Maggie." Both of them were suppose to go to Catherine's house today and do some learning and maybe play, but apparently he wasn't there. Why hadn't Catherine informed me that Ralph was missing? Who was he playing with?
I was baking some cheate bread whenever Ralph climbed up to the trencher and tried to get a bowl, but one fell on my arm. It hurt and when I pulled my sleeve back, there was a dark mark. I hurried and pulled my sleeve back and continued baking. Bernard still was not home yet. Out of nowhere, I decided to make flummery also, and while I was making it, I got more angry at Catherine for not watching Ralph when I sent them to her.
