"Mount Ebbot?"

Alphys nodded. "I-It's the entrance to the underground... well, o-one anyways..." she yammered, nervously fiddling with her claws. You had met up with Alphys the past couple of nights as soon as Sans' skull hit the pillow in a chorus of light snores. Did you feel guilty for not telling him? Absolutely not. You would play happy family during the day- forgive and forget— but by night... you were plotting in the courtyard. The shy yellow monster was your greatest ally right now, and you weren't going to back down.

"It's where all of monsterkind were trapped for thousands of y-years, in the depths of the mountain until we were released by-" she paused, looking down forlornly. "By..." she attempted to continue before shaking her spiked head, the thought dissipating. "T-That doesn't matter, what matters is that that is where Asgore lies. Our whole team, everything. Get r-rid of them and th-th-there's no way he can refuse you a part!" Alphys said as confidently as one could with a stutter, giving you a reaffirming, albeit nervous smile.

"I'm sorry if it's all a bit much- c-crazy even..." she snorted to herself before you lightly touched her arm. "Alphys, I've been kissing Sans for Christ's sake- Nothing you say could sound crazy right now." She seemed to lighten up at that, laughing. "I-I suppose that t-ta-takes a lil of the weirdness off." She giggled. A comfortable silence fell as she wiped her glasses with her undershirt sleeve before humming, rising up to perch them back on her face. She offered you a clawed hand. "Come on! We-We've got a skeleton to p-prove wrong!"

She didn't say it would be this cold.

The cavern that opened the top of mount Ebott whistled with chilling wind. You glanced back over your shoulder- the chateau no more than a white speck on the green sprawled across the countryside, a million miles from the mountain. You could go back- you could tell Sans about Alphys. What if she was lying? What if this were all a trick? You turned back around toward the mouth of the mountain, face set in determined frown as the cold licked your cheek. You were no coward. You squeezed your gun in your trembling grip, clenching your eyes shut with an exhale.

And you jumped.

"...-This is A-Alpha otaku, d-do you read me? (Y/n), do you r-read me??"

It was so plush where you laid. So peaceful. Moonlight drenched the patch you had fallen on, your eyes tracing the light to the hole in the ceiling. "(Y-Y/n), do y-you copy-?!" Alphys called frantically, a verbal echo through the walls in the mountain. She had given you a high tech gizmo she called a walker talkie- it helped you both communicate seeing as she was out on a mission of her own. You grabbed it, still unused to the foreign device. It clicked. "This is Sans is a fool, over." You heard a sigh of utter relief from the other side.

"Dear A-Asgore- I thought s-something happened t-to you-! Don't s-scare me l-l-like that!" She snorted nervously through the communicator. "O-Ok! I'm now gonna walk you through the r-ru-ruins ok? Don't worry, I've d-deactivated all the old b-boo-booby traps-" she reassured as you wandered through the dark space. You reached a crumbling stone archway that stared down at you from the darkness. You bit back a chill and entered, despite the feeling of being watched as you did.

The ruins were deserted, relatively easy to walk through save for a few stray roots that tripped you up. The communicator was nothing but static as you approached a small cottage towards the end, lit, cosy and seemingly undisturbed. You eyed it for a second before approaching in a shuffle, the ruins were positively frigid. You were about to knock before the door swing open gently, your weight falling through the doorway with a soft slam against the floorboards. It was warm. You sighed, almost tempted to stay on the floor but that would've defeated the purpose of this mission.
