The smooth surface of bone lethally pointed- lifted your chin up, your stare threatening to fall to the side but you held strong, meeting Papyrus' sockets bravely.

"Shall we begin?" He dropped your chin harshly, though you still held it up despite his burning glare. You poised your gun at him before something encased in crimson glow came flying at you from your peripheral vision. With a squeak, you stuck your hand out- grasping the item as chilled metal greeted your touch. A sword. You threw a frightened glance towards Papyrus, stance shifted as the brandished the sharpened bone. "Engarde."

With that, he lunged with a yell, bone slicing the little air there was between you. You blocked it messily, sword much heavier than anticipated. He continued to stab at you, your form barely blocking, shuffling back in retreat. You pushed him back against the brunt of your sword- Ah, there it was— that determined frown of yours that unsettled his ribs. With the spirit of a fighter, you pushed him back. You were no swordsman- in fact, you were no fighter by any means. But seeing your attempts to fend him off sent his soul flaring.

He readied himself with a sick grin before he fell into a kneel. He threw a look to his speared through tibia, one of Sans' bones skewering him into place. He threw a look to Sans, too engaged in his own battle to notice Pap's scathing glare. Without so much as a wince, Papyrus yanked the bone out, smirking. Another weapon in possession. How fitting, her lover's weapon- a desperate ploy to save her- becoming her demise... how marvellous.

He parried, now dual wielding in his attacks as he attacked with a ferocity you hadn't yet seen. His attacks were cutting, concise- perfect to a fault with an unyielding rage. It was as if he didn't get stabbed, as if he weren't dribbling out dust from his bones. Determined. Your retreat had been cornered to the staircase- with no choice but to move forwards up them. You fled, running up them. Papyrus only grinned at this new prospect of your cat and mouse game continuing, dashing after you.

Sans watched this from the corner of his socket as he sent another bone rocketing for Asgore. It was deflected by a mere swipe of his trident. "Hey boss-" he called after him. Asgore raised his head, gaze steely. "Just how many have you killed with that thing?" Asgore's face set into mournful frown, his trident poising for the mocking skeleton. Sans readied himself for the attack, seamlessly dodging before another bone phased to life. You would be fine.

...And how many times had he been wrong about that?

You were not fine.

Papyrus had caught up to you, phalange snagging your ankle and dragging you down the cobbled stairs to be underneath him, bone raised— he brought it down, your screaming head rolling to the side as he sliced your cheek in a stream of red he was tempted to lap up. You rolled to the side, kicking him away as you scrambled up the steps. He was quick to leap back to his feet, thin form darting towards you with a slash of his bone. He caught end of the thick, woollen tapestry that lined the wall. He growled, slicing the material easily- expression murderous.

You were sure he was going to kill you- till it struck you. He was still so blinded by a lie, a lie that you decided had gone on long enough. You turned, furrowing your brow as you stood motionless, watching him charge up the stairs after you. "You're loyal to the queen, right Mr. Papyrus? You're also loyal to a king who is wrong and unjust—!" His makeshift sword swung- missing you by a hair. "You dare to speak ill of my king with a foul tongue that has divulged in the filthy taste of murderers— you have no place to say that-!!" He seethed, advancing as you retreated backwards on an upwards incline.

"You love your queen- I know that! You also love your king- but he is not who he'd have you think!" You urged, ducking under his swing again. "You say one more thing out of turn—!!" He warned, fuming. "ASGORE KILLED YOUR QUEEN!!" You screamed, readying your sword. You didn't want to do this. Papyrus stormed towards you, both bones askew. You really didn't want to do this. "YOU LIE!!!" He roared, swinging towards you. But it was ordered to be done. With a cry charged with every inch your soul contained, you lanced through his ribs, sword diving into his spinal cord, teeth ground. You had finally bested your fear.
