Life has been a blur for Jeon Jeongguk.
To him, it feels like a never-ending melody. It sometimes pauses and buffers and the theme even changes, but it never stops.
He remembers the time when he was so clueless and naive about everything. A sixteen year old who wanted to achieve greatness. The world looked so huge to his small self, yet he didn't waver. He would become a successful idol one day, and the world would become his stage. That was his goal, his dream, his everything.
It wasn't easy as counting sheep or reciting the alphabet, per se, and obstacles came like massive floods. People had a tendency to pick on every little flaw, every little mistake, and every little error. Idols, he had realized, had to be perfect. A model with no faults, or else they'll be deemed as irresponsible, reckless, and a disappointment to society.
Did he give up? Absolutely not.
And he was glad that he didn't.
Years passed by, and his hyungs decided to settle down. Call him selfish, but he didn't understand why they had to. The lives that they led were already too perfect to change. Every person knew them, and the world couldn't get enough of their presence. The "awards" that only the best of the best can get? It was simply one of the many achievements they received.
"You'll understand someday," his Namjoon-hyung had said to him, his hand gently patting his hair. The others nodded in agreement, looking at him with a tender gaze.
He scoffed out loud. Someday, the idea of settling down would still be unfathomable to him.
"Earth to Jeon Jeongguk! Are you even listening to me?"
He snaps out of his thoughts. Haeyoung, his manager, an expression of annoyance clear on her face. He shrugs his shoulders, and nonchalantly replies, "What? It's not my fault that you always give out the most boring speeches ever."
She stares at him, her mouth agape. Jeongguk smirks in victory as her eye twitches. Irritating his manager has been one of his favorite hobbies. It was entertaining to watch, and he couldn't help but view her as a little kid, although she was years older than him.
"I don't get paid enough for this," Haeyoung sighs. "When I said assign me to someone who'll surprise me, I said assign me to someone responsible. Not a brat stuck inside a 27 year-old body. I regret my life."
"No, you don't." Jeongguk then proceeds to give her fingerhearts, which the woman only cringes at. "You love me, Haeyoung-noona."
"And I'm married to Ryan Gosling." She sarcastically remarks. "But life doesn't work out that way, brat."
Before the man could even retort, she raises a hand to his face, signalling him to stop. "You don't anything on your schedule today, so you can rest. Don't forget to update your fans, too. Post a selfie or do an Instagram live."
With this, Jeongguk internally cheers. Being a solo artist is tiring, but he enjoyed it nevertheless. Though it would be nice to take a break once in a while. Sadly, it only occurs once in a blue moon, as his schedule was fully packed everyday. And hearing this news made him miss his lovely, oh-so-dear apartment.
He'd probably just play games, eat and sleep. Imagining himself sleeping on his soft, fluffy bed made him stomp his foot in excitement. He wanted to leave the company, right now.
His manager notices his silent plea, and she cracks a small smile. "You can go now, but remember to do what I said."
And with that being said, Jeongguk dashes and Haeyoung shakes her head in amusement. "That brat..."
