SiobhanI got out of bed a little earlier than normal in an effort to avoid Naomi. Part of me felt bad about it but I just couldn't face her after last night. I grabbed a pair of sweatpants and a sweater. My nightmare of a memory kept replaying in my head.
I looked in the mirror and sighed. I look like shit. I knew that not sleeping would catch up to me eventually but I was hoping to hold out a little longer. I tried to use makeup to conceal the bags under my eyes but it was pointless. I decided to head to the cafeteria and grab some breakfast. I left Naomi a note since she was still asleep.
The cafeteria was pretty empty. Since it was a Saturday morning most of the students here don't eat breakfast. I grabbed a bowl of oatmeal and filled it with every fruit imaginable. I sat down and started eating.
I didn't look up when I heard the chair next to me move. I was expecting Naomi to come down and interrogate me about last night. When I heard Liam's voice I looked up, "Hey you okay?" I could see the concern and pity in his eyes. It made me want to punch him.
"I'm fine."
"You sure about that? I mean you look like shit."
I laughed, "Charming as always Liam." He furrowed his brows and looked at me in confusion. We sat in silence as we ate. It was actually...nice. When I finished and prepared to head back upstairs I gave a Liam a small smile. He returned it and I headed back up to my room.
When I got there Naomi was already out of bed and changed. She explained that she and Connor were hanging out. Naomi thankfully understood that I didn't want to talk about last night. After a few questioning and concerned glances she head out. I got back in bed and drifted to sleep.
I was standing around at McMahans bar. Me and the guys were getting drunk and fooling around. Patrick was out on some job so we were free to party. Over the past months they had become more than just my best friends. They were my family.
I had always had trouble with friends. I rarely got along well with girls. When I was little I got walked all over. After my parents died I just stopped giving a shit. That left me friendless fast.
But the gang didn't care about my attitude or general shittyness. We were all shitty.
It had been an amazing night until Ryan walked in. Ryan had been apart of an enemy gang til he defected. I didn't understand why Patrick trusted him but he did. I trusted him about as far as I could throw him. I sure as hell didn't trust the way he looked at me. Like I was some prize that he thought he'd win. Of course Patrick didn't believe anything I said about Ryan. I mean even if he did it's not like Ryan would go after me. As Patrick's girl I was protected.
But that night Ryan was so drunk. I don't even think I've ever seen someone that drunk and still walking. He hung out with us for awhile. I always kept my distance and tried to ignore his threatening gazes.
Eventually I headed to the bathroom. While I was washing my hands I saw Ryan stumble in. The minute he came in I knew what was happening. He locked the door and I froze. I could have easily beat the shit out of him. I was stronger than half the guys out there and Ryan was drunk. But I couldn't move.
I immediately felt like throwing up. He grabbed my arm and pushed my against the wall. I choked back the sob as he whispered in my ear, "You have no idea how long I've wanted to do this." I begged my arms to move. To do something. He forced me to swallow some liquid that immediately made me feel woozy.
Just before I was about to go down I heard the door bust open. All I could think was Patrick. Patrick was here. He came to save me. I felt someone pick me up. I used all my energy to open my eyes. But I wasn't met with Patrick's beautiful blue eyes. Instead it was Daniel, Patrick's second in command.
"Siobhan, Siobhan! You are safe." That was the last thing I heard before passing out.
"Siobhan!"
I woke up with someone's arms around me. I looked up at beautiful blue eyes, "Patrick?"
"What? No Siobhan it's Liam. What just happened, are you okay?" I focused my eyes and looked at Liam's face. He had a huge bruise on his left cheekbone.
"You know you have a bruise on your face." I somehow managed to say still trying to catch my breath.
"Are you shitting me right now? I hear you half screaming half crying. I rush into the room to see you asleep. And you question me about a bruise?" He said with a laugh. "You might be insane you know that?"
Insane. Maybe I was insane. Maybe that's why I fell for a guy like Patrick. A guy who would get me involved with all that bullshit. A guy who would choose a fucking rapist over me.
"Was it something I said?" He asked. I gave him a confused look. "You just like dazed out. Was it something I said?"
"Oh, um...yea." I answered removing myself from his arms. I expected him to get off the bed or at least move but he didn't. Normally I would feel trapped but for some reason I knew I was safe.
He stared at me for what felt like an eternity then said, "I don't get you. You beat the shit out of a guy then freak out because you might get in trouble. You keep rejecting me but say I'm just like some guy you used to know. Patrick I assume. One minute you're here then the next it's just like you're gone."
I look down at my hands, "If its any consolation I don't really get me either. It's-It's hard to explain."
"That's okay. You don't have to tell me everything. Shit I'll even tell you some of my story. C'mon let's go somewhere."
