Chapter 1 [8]

You stared at the timer that was now on the statue whilst everyone else began talking about what was before you.

'What is it counting down to?' You asked yourself.

You are unsure how long you were muttering to yourself, but you eventually snapped out of it.

"Your timing is impeccable, though. There is something I wanted to ask you. What is this timer counting down to?" Togami asked Monomi, who had just appeared.

"I-I don't know anything that Monokuma is doing . . ." Monomi cried.

"If you don't know anything about this timer, you're useless. Go away." Byakuya demanded.

"But-" Monomi began.

"Go away!" Togami interrupted.

And with that, Monomi ran off.

"Everything that occurred in the last 24 hours has been a giant mess of unimaginable things..." Byakuya muttured.

"Y-yeah, how did we get here anyway?" You asked everyone.

"How are we meant to know?  It's a pain, so I decided not to think about that... Sure is a mystery." Kazuichi said.

"That's only one mystery of many. Jabberwock Island is a famous resort location. How come it's been deserted? There aren't any tourists here, not to mention the local population... Is such a thing really possible?" Togami asked.

"That Monokuma obviously slaughtered everyone dummy!" Hiyoko said.

"And that's how this island became uninhabited?" Nekomaru asked.

"It's possible, but... we don't know for certain that's what happened.. When all is said and done, this mystery is still a mystery. Mysteries everywhere. So many astonishing mysteries piled together... this isn't the work of some after-school club." Byakuya said out loud.

"What do you mean?" Hajime asked.

"What I'm trying to say is... this situation is, without question, the work of some kind of powerful organization." Togami answered.

"A powerful o-organization?" Mikan asked.

"Monomi, Monokuma, the Monobeasts... To construct sophisticated machines like these takes considerable expertise." Togami pointed out.

"And not just expertise... It's also extremely costly. The parts you need aren't just found lying around." Soda explained.

"In all likelihood, the organization is operating those machines while watching us through the surveillance cameras..." Byakuya informed.

"Would they be hiding on the island?" Peko asked.

"No... it wouldn't make much sense for them to physically be here. They are probably somewhere else. Somewhere safe." Togami explained.

"Where would that be?" Nekomaru asked.

"That, I do not know. In any case, it is certain that some kind of powerful organization is controlling our situation." Byakuyua assured.

"Yeah, but I can't imagine an organization being able to set up something like this." Akane replied.

"Well I can. My own family's Togami Conglomerate. The kingdom of Novoselic... And the Kuzuryuu Family... They would have to be on the same scale as these." Togami answered.

"I'm used to being a suspect. Think what you want..." Fuyuhiko muttured.

"Miss Sonia would never do such a thing! Look at her! She's a golden haired princess! She's nothing like the rest of you commoners!" Kazuichi exclaimed.

"Yeah, yeah... why are the extras talking so much?" Hiyoko asked.

"Huh? H-hey, are you talking about me!?" Kazuichi asked.

"Those clothes you're wearing... are you just trying to look cool because your personality is so shallow! Hee hee... it's very difficult to survive when you're employed as a disposable extra, you know." Hiyoko sneered.

"Hey, cut it out!" Kazuichi screamed.

You decided to just leave the two alone as they continued arguing.

"Do you really think yours or Sonia's family is involved in this?" Hajime asked.

"I was just giving examples." Byakuya explained.

"They would class as powerful organizations." Hajime muttered.

"By the way, how much longer are we going to talk about this? Why not turn the conversation into something a little more real?" Teruteru asked.

"Our enemy's goals are still unclear to me... This will change as soon as we know for certain who they are. In other words, our first priority is to investigate our captors' identity. We shall surely also discover a means to escape if we do. Luckily, according to the Electronic Student Handbook, we are free to investigate this island... There must be a clue here somewhere. We have no time to waste... We have to search as if our lives depend on it." Togami said.

"Absolutely!" Akane laughed!

And with that everyone parted ways.

A/n: I've decided that for the first free time event, it will be spent with Togami for plot reasons.
