"Make sure you read the questions correctly before answering any", aunt lily said while applying anointing oil on my forehead. i was going for an examination and not war for fucksake.

"May the good Lord protect and guide you. I rebuke every spirit of failure in your life...", I mindlessly said amen to her prayers and wished it would end before the exam actually ends.

"Lily that prayer is sufficient for the rest of the year", my dad interrupted her as I made a dash towards the door. I was supposed to catch the bus with Toby but thanks to Rory he was not speaking to me. I tried his number but it went straight to voicemail so I assumed he was either already there or on his way.

I put my hands out in front of me to stop the bus I was about to board. It stopped for me to enter and I found an empty space close to the most beautiful creature I had ever come across. Even penguins which I considered beautiful could not stand a chance. My vocal chords seemed to be malfunctioning as I didn't know how to talk to her. Before I could ask if I could sit, the bus stopped and she went down rendering me speechless.

"Young man please seat down before you hurt yourself", an elderly man snapped me out of my day dream. Dam I'm fucking slow. It was a boring ride and I was glad for taking my earphones along with me else I'd have lost my mind.

"I'll highlight at the next junction", I called out to the driver who gave me a thumbs up to indicate he had heard what I said. Finally my stop had came so I highlighted from the bus along with a few.

"You dropped this", a little girl with no front teeth said and shoved a book into my hands running up to meet her mum.

"It isn't mine", I said to myself realizing she had gone far. There was no time left so I threw the book into my rock sac and ran towards the school building where Toby was about to enter after being checked.

"You're here early", he scoffed with an eye roll

"Trust me I am early you have no idea", I panted from running

"Let me guess. Aunt Lily is around", he chuckled and moved forward with the rest of the line

"Don't even get me started", I dismissed and joined the moving line.

Some hours later

"That examination was tougher than I thought it will be", I complained to a silent Toby who looked devastated.

"The only thing I wrote correctly and I can vouch for is my name and surname", he smiled and rubbed his face. I laughed so hard as my phone rang in my back pocket.

"It's Rory", I announced knowing he'll pretend not to care

"What can I do for you?" I inquired as we boarded a bus back to my house

"mum just got back from the hospital and is asking of you", she told me but I could hear my mum struggling to get the phone.

"Tee will you come to my crib and say hello", I deliberately asked just to annoy Rory.

"Hell yes, it's been a while since I have seen Mrs. Jo", he smiled and made a call home letting them know he'll be spending the night at mine.

"I didn't know Tee was there with you", Rory whispered

"You'll see him when we get home. We're close so chill", I encouraged and hung up.

"You both really need to get your shit together and stop putting me in the middle", I told Toby who just shrugged as we got down from the bus.

"I don't get her obsession with Isabella. The girl is just really excited to learn how to dance from me. She just returned from rehab after trying to kill herself", he explained and pulled his hair out of frustration.
