Dear diary, I went to my mum's grave today just to feel closer to her. Ever since her death, my life has been nothing but a complete mess. My sisters still don't understand the pain I go through anytime I look at dad. It has been exactly five years since she died and it feels like today when everything happened. I partially blame him although it wasn't entirely his fault. Her demise hit me the most because she died in my arms.

"Vee, call your dad or Brandy I don't feel so good", she had told me that evening but dad was not close by so I left a voicemail.

"Dad mum needs your attention", I typed in the message I had sent to him.

"He should be here and not with that woman that has him wrapped her tiny fingers", I yelled while helping my mum to stand from the bedroom hoping mum's boyfriend Brandy will get here before my dad.

"Where is your sister?" she inquired pretending not to be in pain

"She is on her play date", I answered with a groan because she was leaning her weight on me. The bell finally ran and I hoped it was my dad but instead it was his mistress Leila.

"Why do you keep calling my husband? Haven't you done enough by ruining his marriage with me", she continued to yell regardless of my other's condition.

"Are you blind or just too daft not to know when someone is not in the mood for your nonsense?"My anger got the best of me as I pulled her braids and shoved her away from my way with my other hand.

"Mum I can drive you to the hospital, but you have to tell me what is wrong?"I pleaded

"When I got pregnant with you and your sister, I was warned against getting pregnant again because it could cause a tumor but your dad did not believe. He felt I was trying to leave him because of his lies and infidelity so he ignored and continued having unprotected sex with me until I started dating Brandon", she explained but started coughing blood.

"I came here as soon as I got your call", Brandy's voice soothed me along with the paramedics that put mum on a stretcher and off to the hospital.

"Do you have any idea what is wrong with my mum?" my shaky voice broke the silence in the car I was with Brandy driving.

"Basically, your mum has a tumor and is currently pregnant. She would have gotten rid of the tumor years back but your dad refused to sign the consent files so the chances of her survival is actually 20%", he explained still focused on the road.

"What?" I screamed and hit the dashboard continuously.

"She can only do one of the two if she will survive; either remove the tumor or the child", he sadly confessed.

"I'm guessing the baby is yours from the tone of your voice", I held his hands as he parked in front of the hospital.

"I am here to see Miss Adah Festus, she was rushed in here a couple of minutes ago", he hurriedly explained to the nurse who checked her computer for my mum.

"She was rushed to the Emergency room but the doctor will be with you shortly...

I stopped reading the diary and noticed that it was already midday and I had not heard from anyone which was so unusual. Rory obviously was not speaking to me after my outburst yesterday and Nelson was probably just on his laptop as usual.

"Mum where are you?" I shouted while descending the stairs

"In the kitchen baby, I am baking a cake for your sister", mum's weak voice said while removing the already baked cakes from the oven.
