sirius's pov

remaining in my seat, i was left to my thoughts and firewhiskey when harry left.

"sirius mate, what's up, you didn't come to dinner?" moony asked, returning from the kitchen, where dinner was held.

"not much, just thinking about v," i replied still dazed. v was my best friend for so many years and then, she just left. she left us with no indication of where or when she would be back.

"you know, sirius, we could look for her," moony stated, while sitting down, "she never said not to look for her."

"i know, but when people leave, they usually don't want to be followed," i said taking another sip of my drink. for the longest time, i was mad at her, she just left. one night we came home from the lily and james' house for her birthday, then the next morning there was nothing but a note saying she was safe and it was better that she left. then, no more than two months later, james and lily were killed because peter sold them out to he who must not be named.

"sirius, mate, you need to get some sleep," remus said to his last remaining friend.

"fine mate," sirius said to his friend. he got up from the large leather chair and walked to new his room, not wanting to step foot in his old room. the room held to many memories, bad ones from his family, and good ones from his best friend.

vindemiatrix's pov

there was a rustle from the bed next to me. i decided to go investigate. ow, i thought tripping over my boots next to my bed as a stood up to see what the noise was.

"lumos," i enchant my wand, which lights up the tip. "hello," i whisper yelled at the person.

"oh, i'm sorry," a frazzled lily evans says, "i didn't mean to wake you up."

"what is the bloody time and why are you up?" i question the ginger in front of me.

"well it's half five, and i usually wake up at this time during school," she explained.

"oh," i replied, while still half asleep.

"i'm sorry about waking you," she said, maybe even genuinely sorry.

"oh, it's nothing, i'm a very light sleeper, you know with insane parents you have to be able to get up at the snap of a finger or a quick jolt of a spell," i joke, clearly creeping her out, "oh, sorry that just slipped out. well, miss evans, because i am already up and you are up, would you like to get breakfast?" i ask.

"the great hall isn't open yet," she rebuts.

"when did i say great hall?" i smirk, grabbing a piece of parchment writing, we went for breakfast, will be back soon, then slapping it on remus' forehead, causing him to turn a bit. "let's go," i say leading evans to the kitchen.

"where are we ?" she asks as we arrive in front of the portrait. i tickled the pair on the portrait, causing it to open and lily to gasp.

"the kitchen of course," i laughed before i sat down at the table. "betty!" i called and the house elf appeared, shocking my new guest.

"mistress lestrange, i missed you over summer. would you like your usual breakfast?" she asked me.

"thank you betty. i missed you too, and i would like two of my usual, but make hers without blueberries and a tea instead." i say to the house elf. lily, still floured by the magnificent kitchen and many house elves sits down at the table.

"how did you know i can't eat blueberries?" inquired my guest in my best friend's shirt and tousled curls.

"i live with james potter year round, you do know that right?" i laugh.

"year round?" she questions again.

"you do seem to have a lot of questions this early in the morning, but..." i was interrupted by betty coming back with two plates of toast and my coffee and evan's tea. "yum, thank you betty. i have been looking forward to this all holiday. no offence to euphemia or fleamont or any of their house elves, but they don't make it as good as you," i praise my favourite house elf at hogwarts. i bite into my toast before continuing to talk to evans who thanked betty as well. "well, long story short, i ran away, got disowned, and now live with potter's and sirius, but enough about me, i want to know about you. what was it like growing up muggle then learning about the wizarding world?" i asked, finishing my toast.

"well, i have an older sister, who is a muggle. i live in cokeworth. my family was by no means rich, but we weren't poor. when i was nine i met severus," she explained, but the mention of his name made me gag. ignoring my action, evans continued, "and we have been friends since. he was even the first person who told me about magic. it freaked me out at first, but i guess i always knew. what was it like growing up for you?" she asks innocently. i took a large sip of coffee before talking,

"well, i was born in my family's city home in london, but i grew up in the country at the manor. all of our homes were very dark and definitely not a great place for children. i have two brothers, rabastan and rodolphus, both older. my parents are completely off their rocker, complete manics about blood purity and followers of voldemort. they were complete freaks, so i decided to leave. i have been friends with sirius since he was born. and yeah," i finished talking and finished my coffee.

wow, was all evans could say.

"miss lestrange, it is  six and we have to set up for breakfast if you wouldn't mind leaving the kitchen," betty says after popping next to the table making evans jump a bit.

"of course betty," i reply standing up, "i will see you after my second class for a coffee refill."

"thank you," she said popping away. we left the kitchen and sneak back to the gryffindor common room.

"thank you for breakfast," evans said before going to the girls dormitory. i smirk back in recognition and go to the dorm.

"where have you been young lady?" james says standing on his bed, half naked, when i walk into the dorm.

"you wouldn't believe me if i told you," i said walking over to sirius' bed, pushing him off.

"oi! what the fuck mate!" yells the black, causing us all to laugh.
