(This takes place after season 13. The Reds and Blues didn't go into hiding yet.)

Earth

It was a dark and rainy day. In the distance, a funeral can be seen. A very important funeral for a certain shotgun-happy Sergeant.

Sarge, and the rest of the Reds and Blues and some other nameless people are standing around a black coffin. Inside laid the most important person in Sarge's life. His father, Rick May.

There was another person next to him. His brother, who goes by the name of John Doe. Otehrwise known as, the Soldier.

A priest stepped forward, and started his formal speech. But Sarge wasn't listening. He just stared at the coffin, not saying a word.

The others understood his inaction completly. When the officer from the UNSC came up to them, and informed Sarge of his father's death, he broke down in tears, right after the officer left. The others tried to comfort him, mainly Matthias, Beatrice, Tex and Carolina. Ever since that day, Sarge has been like this. Not saying a word, and not reacting to anything.

While they were thinking about this, the priest has finished his speech, and those nameless people went over to the coffin one by one, to tell something about him. Then, the priest said something that managed to knock Sarge out of his tranze.

Priest: Would anyone else like to say something?

Sarge was unsure, whenever he should go over there, or not. Suddenly, he felt a hand on his right shoulder. He followed the hand to it's owner, who tuned out to be Matthias. He didn't say a word, just gave Sarge a nod. He slowly nodded back, and went over to the coffin.

After what felt like hours, he started talking.

(Play the song at the top.)

Sarge: My father was the best thing, that happened to me in my life. When me and my brother were just little kids, he already began teaching us the ways of using a rocket launcher, a shovel, and a shotgun. I loved all of it, but I loved the shotgun the most. John though, he was a master with all of it. I never got jealous though, because father never gave me a reason to be. He loved us both equally. He taught us the meaning of honor, and loyalty. How to always face the enemy head-on, with no fear, what-so-ever. He also taught us how to know the difference between good and evil, right and wrong, and most important of all, between friend, and foe. (sniff) I'll never forget you're teaching, dad. I'll always carry them with me, forever.

With that final sentence, he placed something on the coffin, which was nothing else, than his good old thrushty shotgun. The one he used in every one of his fights, and the one, that no one else could wield with such proficiency and elegancy.

The Reds and Blues were shocked. They never imagined Sarge could be capable of something like this. As Sarge went back to the group, he received hugs from everyone, even from Grif. But Sarge made no comment on it, and accepted it without question.

After that, Soldier stepped up. He took a deep breath, and started.

Soldier: There isn't much I can say, since my brother has said it before me. So I'll just say this. You were the best person I have ever known, dad. I will honor your memory and you're teaching with my life.

With that, he placed a certain iconic rocket launcher on top of the coffin, and joined his brother. They didn't say a single word to eachother, just looked eachother in the eyes, and hugged eachother. They stayed like that for a minute or two. After that, they parted, and Soldier firmly stood next to Sarge.

After everyone was done saying their goodbye's, the coffin descended into the earth. Sarge and Soldier were saluting throughout the entire process. After the coffin reached the bottom, the workers quickly covered it up. The Reds and Blues stayed there, until they finished. They were now standing infront of a tombstone, which read:

HERE LIES RICHARD J. MAY

BORN: SEPTEMBER 21, 2477

DIED: APRIL 13, 2557

"YOU WERE GOOD, MY SONS, REAL GOOD. MAYBE EVEN THE BEST."

They stood there for another hour, than left quietly.

The next week Sarge was back to his old self, and they never spoke of this day, ever again.

Author: Hey guys... today is a sad day... Rick May, the voice actor of TF2 Soldier, has died on April 13, 2020 due to COVID-19. This is a serious strike for me, because Soldier is my favorite TF2 character. I may have not played him too much, because I can't rocket jump correctly, but that never stopped me from loving the character.

Rest in piece Rick, you magnificent bastard. Thank you for voicing the best character in TF2, along with other characters from different games. We will miss you. Rest in Piece.
