"Well, sure, but I thought step one was a tour of the H.Q."

"Except the hall isn't the League's real H.Q! I bet they never told you it's just a false front for tourists and a pit stop for catching zeta beam teleporter tubes to the real thing, an orbiting satellite called the watchtower."

Green Arrow received several unhappy looks, "I know, I know, but I thought maybe we could make an exception. Or not."

"You're not helping your cause here, son," said Aquaman.

"Stand down or-- Or what? You'll send me to my room? And I'm not your son! I'm not even his. I thought I was his partner, but not anymore. Guess they're right about you three, you're not ready," exclaimed Speedy before he stormed out of the room, leaving a oath of astonishment and bewilderment behind him.

The team was brought out of their musings when they heard Superman on the speakers, "Superman to Justice League. There's been an explosion at project Cadmus. It's on fire."

"I've had my suspicions about Cadmus.
This may present the perfect opportunity to investigate, while also evaluating your skills. You all will be coming to Cadmus with me. Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, and Flash will accompany us. Superman and everyone else will have monitor duty and provide backup if necessary," said Batman looking at the young team sternly.

"Yes, time for some action," exclaimed Wally, pumping his fist.

It only took a short time to arrive at Cadmus and even less to break in.

"Be careful and remember that we are just here to investigate, and will only make ourselves known if we absolutely need to," warned Wonder Woman, looking at the strange kanji written on a door leading to what was presumably some sort of lab.

Soon, loud footsteps filled the hallway and two figures could be seen coming towards their general direction. Batman motioned at the team to make themselves disappear and they all sunk into the shadows. One of the men walking towards them was unnaturally pail, had long black hair, and was snake-like in appearance with yellow eyes two purple markings coming down from his eyes. He had a sort of malicious look about him that made the team fill with a feeling of dread and awe. His name was Orochimaru, an infamous missing nin from the village Konoha located in the Hidden Continent. He was known for his cruel human experiments and his obsession with gaining immortality. The second man was tall, bald, and had sharp green eyes that showed him to be extremely crafty and greedy. This man, was of course Lex Luthor, the rich CEO of LexCorp. Behind both of the men, was a large group of grunts armed with tranquilizer guns, gas masks, and a strange looking box.

Batman touched a gadget on his arm and spoke quietly into it. "I have just told Super Man to stay on the alert, we might need back up," he said looking venomously at the two men.

"Oh, shoot! That's Lex Luthor! What is he doing here and who is that creepy Voldemort-looking dude?" exclaimed Wally.

Dick motioned for him to be quieter.

"That my friend is Orochimaru, a sadistic man, who had to flee the country of Hi no Kuni located on the Hidden Continent when it was discovered that he was experimenting on people to try become immortal and give himself special powers. I heard that he had fled to Egypt, but since he is here, those rumors must have been false," answered the Martian Manhunter

"Hidden Continent? I have heard of no such thing before, and I am well versed in geography," said Kaldur.

"We'll explain later, but now to need to listen and keep quiet," said Flash in a tone that was oddly serious.

As the men grew closer, the team could start to hear their conversation:
"What's with the entourage Luthor, do you not trust me? You should remember that I was the one that brought this boy to your attention. I had the option of keeping him secret and I have agreed to share the beast power with you," said Orochimaru in a tone of fake hurt.

"Of course not," answered Luthor coolly, "I am just using this opportunity to test out some of the new technology I have been working on. It is a win-win situation for both of us, I can test my technology, you get control of the beast, and we both get an unbelievable amount of power. And once you are done with the boy, I can give him to one of Konoha's enemies for a large amount of money. After all, he is basically royalty. Granted, you're getting more out of this than I am, but you were the one to capture our subject without being followed by those Anbu."

And with that, the men and the group of soldiers behind them entered the lab, slamming the door behind them, and leaving the team filled with apprehension.
