chapter 17: realization

The 5th day of the Grand Magic Games went by the same as last time. Lucy and I stood on the balcony while Natsu, Gray, Erza, Gajeel, and Laxus fought through the game. The only difference was that this time Sting and Rogue weren't raging because Lector got hurt.

Speaking of exceeds they are getting kinda annoying. Happy won't leave Lucy alone and I have found Pantherlilly asking me for a spar. I truly miss Frosh and Lector.

As I watch the match I remember Lucy disagreeing with Mavis over team placements. Mavis wanted Lucy and I to be a part of this team, but Lucy said no. She made a good point by pointing out that Natsu and Gray need something to do, and that we have been in almost every match. Mavis gave up with a pout and Lucy was smiling for the rest of the day.

I grin as Gray and the others step out of the hallway, raising the fairy tail sign. Cheers echo across the stadium and Mato is yelling out the results. In second place is Sabertooth and they reach out with smiles on their faces.

I take a look at Lucy who is cheering with the rest of the crowd and smile. She is back to normal. Once again I offer a prayer to Sting and Lucy's Sibling relationship. I squeal as Sting kisses Yukino on the cheek. After she found out about us being from the future Rogue showed her some memories using a memory lacrima.

I watch wide-eyed as an ice rose floats up to me and lands itself on my hand. I can feel the heat rush up to my cheeks as Gray winks at me and it doesn't help that I can feel Lucy smirking at me. I splash water at Lucy's face and float a black water heart towards an amused Gray. It's times like this where I can't help but see the Gray I know in the place of the current Gray.

I know that they are the same person but I can't wait for my Gray to come back.

" It's never going to happen" I hear Lucy say across from me and I look at her. Her eyes softened as she looked at Natsu who was blowing kisses to the crowd. She was seated on the railing with one leg dangling from the open side.

" The Gray that we know is gone" She continues and I feel the blood leave my face. Before I can dispute her claim she raises a hand making me stop.

" Sting helped me see that our Natsu and Gray are gone. They don't exist in this timeline. " She states softly and I feel like crying. I watch as Gray puts on an ice show for a 5-year-old girl in the crowd. Our eyes meet for a second and then it's over.

" Now just accept that our Gray and Natsu are gone and make memories with the new ones, the ones who will never go through that war" Lucy finishes and I see her clench her fist. Her posture is calm but her eyes are a storm of emotions.

" You are right, our Gray and Natsu are gone" I say and my stomach churns. Lucy looks at me with an apologetic expression but I look at a grinning Gray and smile.

" These two will be better" I finish and Lucy smiles and then laughs.

" They better be" She chokes out with a roll of her eyes and I raise my eyebrow.

" Because we are the best we have ever been so they should try and keep up" Lucy states wiggling her eyebrows and I laugh.

" Really Lucy" I call out and shake my head.

" You were actually acting mature until that." I with an exasperated expression. Lucy then sticks out her tongue and I groan.

" How can you be serious one second and then you're like this..." I finish and Lucy grins.

" Thank you, it's a talent" she replies and I facepalm.

The Grand Magic Games have finally ended. Now the actual changes will come. It's time to fight.
