The case of Y/N and Ethan is a curious one. According to their mother, the day they were born was on a day that no zodiac resided over. A middle ground that no other zodiac shared. Whether that was true or not, the pair will never know. But, today was their birthday, 12 years on this Earth, twelve years of sibling-dom. At some point one would grow bored, and the shared birthdays would become monotonous, but not for this pair. For at 11:59 pm tonight, their lives will change, and their fate will reveal itself before their eyes. But for now, it was just another birthday. The pair began it just as they did every birthday, with a big breakfast from mom. They gobbled it down within minutes and each gave their mom a big kiss on the cheek before rushing out the door. Grabbing their coats for the chilly day outside, they rushed to the river and skipped rocks for hours. At some point they grow bored and decide to head home. Y/N picks some flowers from the field nearby. They make a quick stop on the way home, at the nearby cemetery. "Here lies Mago Celeste, kind husband and loving father." The latter phrase left Y/N to wonder as she lay the floral arrangement upon his grave. The duo remains a small while, hand in hand. "Let's go home." Y/N decides. They arrive as a wonderful array of smells hits their noses. They rush in, taking off their coats and shoes, racing to get to the dinner table. Their favorite food sits on the table, calling to them. Their mother sits at the table, looking a little paler than usual.

"Did you guys have fun today?" She asks as she takes a seat at the table. Her skin seeming thinner than paper, her bones lie just beneath. "So much!" "Yep! Tons" The twins reply as they arrive at the dinner table. The food was delicious, the pair finish within minutes of taking a seat. Their mother reappears with a cake and candles. She hands the candles to her children, who cheerfully place them on the cake, twelve on one half, twelve on the other. "Y/N's candles are so neat!" Ethan admires as he looks to his own wonky candle placement. Their mother laughs as she pulls out a match and begins to light the candles. The pair noticed their mother's nearly transparent skin once more as she carefully lit the candles. "Happy Birthday to you..." she softly begins, the twins join in. "Happy birthday to you!" They all sing before they blow out their respective sides. They take out the candles and cut the cake. "Don't you want some Mom?" Y/N asks, mouth full. "Oh... no thank you darling." She replies, a troubled look crosses her face for only a second.

She watches as her children happily eat their cake and help clean up. How her children have grown! She laughs as the pair rush to the living room, quickly seating themselves. She pulls out their present, a small box decorated with the most beautiful night sky and a ribbon wrapped neatly over the top. The two grow excited as she places it in front of them. "I'll go first!" Y/N shouts as she grabs the present and unties the ribbon before handing it to her brother to open the box. He opens it and pulls out a key, a celestial spirit key?

The two look at one another then their mother, confused. She laughs as another flash of sadness crosses her face. Kneeling before her children, "It was your father's." She replies, voice cracking. The key was peculiar, at the top sat a crown with a woman's face sticking out beneath. The key formed her body of sorts before landing at her feet which were crossed. Y/N admired the key with her brother. "Dad was a wizard?!" Ethan shouts out of nowhere, pulling Y/N out of her trance. The twins look to their mother for answers. She looks away, hanging her head. "Yes, he was a-" Y/N cuts her off. "Celestial wizard." She slowly picks up the key. "He was a celestial wizard?!" Ethan reacts. "Like the story you told us!" He adds, as he realizes what that meant. "You don't mean..." He begins to say. "You were his spirit." Y/N answers for him. Y/N stares at the ground, eyebrows furrowed. "This is your key?!" She cries, her body shaking underneath. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you both sooner." Their mother says. "You got Dad killed!" Y/N yells back as she tries to stand up, her brother holding her down. "Sorry doesn't cut it." Y/N scowls at her mother, the rage boiling within her. Their mother falls to her knees, tears falling from her eyes. "I know, but it's all I can say. I loved him, just as I love you two." Her voice growing quieter and quieter. "Y/N-" Ethan begins to say. "It was supposed to be a fairy tale!" Y/N cuts him off. "It was supposed to be fiction!" She wails as she throws the key, her mother yelping as it lands in front of her. "What are we supposed to do now that it's real?" Y/N's voice begins to falter, as she breaks out of her brother's hold. She takes a few steps toward her. "What are we supposed to do... without you?" She cries as she falls before her mother, wrapping her arms around her. Ethan joins in and the trio weeps silently for what seems like hours.

Nin was the first to awake. She sits sadly, as her children rest upon her legs. Grabbing the letter, she places it in between the pair before getting up and leaving their home. She looks back one last time before leaving for the last time. No-one saw her that night, as she walked to the cemetery. Still, he smiled as she came into sight, standing before his grave. "I've missed you." He tells her. She looks up and smiles sadly. "I've missed you too." She says as she meets the eyes of her former lover. "They're so grown!" She praises her children. Still, she can't stop the tears. "I'm sorry." She whispers as he takes her hand in his. "It's never been your fault." It was one final touch, one final kiss and they disappeared into the night forever. Thus ending the tale of the Star Crossed Lovers.
