Narrators POV:
"Lainey Mae" Maya whispered as she softly stroked her three year old daughters hair, "It's time to get up, Mommy has school and you have to get to daycare to see Miss Nancy and all of your other friends"
"But-" Lainey began to whine as she started rolling around in her toddler bed, "It is so early"
Maya sighed getting up from her daughters bed, and stood up. Placing her hands on her hips she said more loudly, "Lainey we are both going to be late if you continue sleeping in, and then we wont be able to go out tonight and go to the park"
After hearing that she was going to miss going to the park if she didn't wake up, Lainey quickly sat up in her bed and followed her mother to the kitchen.
Mayas life had changed dramatically throughout high school. She had first entered Abigail Adams high school with the struggle of dealing with solving the trio, which later was resolved by Lucas picking neither of them, and Riley ending up with Farkle Minkus. Sure, Maya and Lucas had still secretly met up and shared a few kisses and one time even more, but they never took it to the next level and made it a relationship. Sophomore year was fine for Maya, at least in the beginning. A month into sophomore year she had discovered she was pregnant with Lainey after going to a party one night in the summer and hooking up with none other than Lucas Friar.
She dared not to tell anybody, and her mother and Shawn who were very accepting at the time helped her out greatly and helped cover for her. They took Maya out of school before she was even showing and began her with homeschooling. Maya took both sophomore and junior year online in her house, while staying home and raising her daughter. The only other people who had known she was pregnant and had a daughter was Riley and her family, as well as Farkle.
Lainey, who's full name was Alaina Mae Friar-Hart, was a tall and mature three year old girl. She took after her father, despite not knowing him, and she cared for everybody. She was very sweet and had great manners, and she resembled him way more than she resembled Maya. She had Lucas's green eyes and the light brown hair he had, as well as the same face shape. The only aspect of her mother that Lainey resembled was her love for art. Lainey also loved going to dance class every Tuesday and Wednesday, and would always dance around the house or with her "aunt" Riley.
After getting tired of being homeschooled and missing out of a normal teenage girl life, Maya decided she wanted to go back to high school to finish senior year with the rest of her friends. She got her daughter enrolled in the daycare right across the street from her school, and she was ready to be back. The only fear she had was facing Lainey's father, who didn't even know he had a daughter. She hadn't spoken to him in months, last time only speaking to him at Rileys 17th birthday party.
Maya had quickly gotten herself ready by straightening her hair and putting on jeans with a purple top. She then got Lainey ready by putting her in an adorable ruffled skirt with a matching top, and doing her hair into two french braids.
"Mommy I am ready!" Lainey announced as she hopped off of the chair and ran to grab her lunchbox. The hyper three year old was excited to see her best friend, Claire, at daycare.
"Okay calm down Lainey, let me grab my backpack and we will get going" Maya chuckled as she picked up her backpack she hadn't touched in almost two years.
While walking Maya held her daughter close, looking around making sure she wasn't going to run into anybody she knew from school. She loved her daughter and wished everybody could know about her and meet her. But she wanted what was best for her, and wanted to keep her private.
The last person Maya wanted to know about Lainey was Laineys father, Lucas. She had come close to telling him that she was pregnant right after she had found out, but decided against it because Lucas had an entire life ahead of him. She didn't want a child holding him back from becoming a college athlete, and a veterinarian. Maya knew Lucas, and knew that if she told him that he was a father, he would drop everything he had and whatever he was doing to care for her, and he wouldn't care for himself.
Finally arriving at the daycare, Maya said her goodbyes to her daughter and to her class and quickly headed off to her first day back at Abigail Adams high school.
