All your fault

Colby had his head in his hand, tears streamed down his face. You stood with your arms crossed, hugging your own body tight, trying to keep the pieces together when they were falling apart with every accusation that he threw at you. Sobs racked your body, tearing from your heart all the way to your mouth. Your heart felt like it was shattering every second that passed and he didn't look at you. How did things get so bad? Why was Colby so in his head? He was never ever this bad. Maybe it was all the late night filming session, the days without sleep, or maybe it was just that your relationship was finally coming to its end. Not all good things last forever. They have their time but at some point the fire dims and all that's left are the ashes to remind you of the good times that you had. Sadly the fire on your relationship was dimming and there was nothing either of you could do to stop it.

You both gave it your all but in the end, it just wasn't meant to be. Colby's heart was throbbing, his chest tightening when those thoughts entered his mind. He didn't want it to be over but again there was nothing he could do about it. He's mental health just wasn't strong enough to deal with the lies and rumors that were being fed to him by Amber. It was like she was spoon feeding it to him. And he believed every word of it. Every bitter word that she had to say about you, he believed it. Colby loved you but when you have someone constantly throwing lies and shit to you, that becomes harder. He was going against two people that meant something to him. He just made the wrong choice.

"This all your fault." you hiccuped out. Colby's red eyes snapped up to your own puffy ones. Anger flowed through them, temporarily drowning out the sadness. "My fault? How is any of this my fault?" he raised his voice, something that he hardly ever does. You shook your head, tears never flattering, " You believed her." You said simply, shrugging your shoulders in defeat. You were over fighting. Over yelling, over trying to convince him that you didn't cheat. All in all, you were over it. "Yeah, sure," he huffed out. You rolled your eyes, your own sadness morphing into anger. " IT IS COLBY! YOU DECIDED TO BELIEVE HER OVER YOUR OWN GIRLFRIEND!" You finally did it. You finally snapped. You yelled, something that you never do. Colby's eyes widened at the sudden outburst from his girlfriend..well ex-girlfriend. " I DID EVERYTHING FOR YOU! WHEN YOU WEREN'T FEELING WELL, I TOOK CARE OF YOU. WHEN YOU WERE STRESSED, I HELPED YOU. WHEN YOU WERE IN SOME OF THE DARKEST PLACES, WHO WAS THERE TO HELP YOU GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD? HUH?" You asked, leaning forward, arms still wrapped tightly around yourself. "CAUSE I SURE AS HELL KNOW THAT IT WASN'T AMBER. I KNOW THAT FOR A DAMN FACT. WANNA KNOW HOW? BECAUSE I STAYED UP WITH YOU ALL NIGHT, EVEN THOUGH I HAD WORK THE NEXT MORNING, ALL DAMN NIGHT HOLDING YOU. LETTING YOU CRY ON ME BECAUSE I LOVE YOU! I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED YOU! YOU, COLBY. NOT ANYONE ELSE. BUT YOU CAN'T SEEM TO GET THAT THROUGH YOU THICK ASS SKULL!" your voice cracked at the end, your throat raw from screaming.

The tears were non-stop for both of you. Colby knew that everything that you just said is true. You did do every single thing that you just mentioned, plus so so much more. But his anger over took him and he yelled back, " AT LEAST I DIDN'T FUCKING CHEAT! I WAS FAITHFUL TO YOU BECAUSE I LOVED YOU! WITH EVERY FIBER IN ME, I LOVE YOU. I ALWA-" you cut him off before he could finish. "no you don't Colby. Cause if you did, this wouldn't be happening." you said sadly. Shrugging again, you looked into the eyes of someone that held your heart for a year. Seeing the heartbreak in his eyes only made yours hurt more. The pain was getting unbearable and you had to leave. You had to leave this apartment. "Goodbye Colby. I hope that one day you have enough confidence in yourself and in your next relationship, to not believe lies. Make this a learning point. Not everything you hear is the truth. But one thing for sure is.." You hesitated, scared to say what you were going to. Colby's heart broke when he realized that this was actually coming to an end, and there was no stopping it. " I love you," you whispered.

You took one last look at Colby before sighing, you turned the doorknob and stepped out into the silent hallway. The tears kept flowing, your chest still throbbing. Walking down the hallway you thought of everything. The good, the bad. The beautiful, the ugly. Now that it's over, all you have are the ashes.

The ashes that tell a beautifully sad love story.
