"This is what you need."
And with a thud, my best friend dropped a stack of CDs in front of me. I could barely read the titles through my tear-filled eyes. I was breaking down in the middle of Starbucks with balls of tissue in my hand, red faced and probably attracting a lot of unnecessary attention.
And all Mia could show me was a stack of CDs? Life is completely cruel.
"Wha-what the heck are these?" I asked.
Mia pursed her lips and lets out a sigh. "You really need to stop crying," she said, fidgeting with her phone. "You've already known for a week. It was you who said it was over so..."
She pushed the Cds closer. "Just....listen to them, okay? You'll feel better."
I knew from Mia's voice that her heart was breaking for me. Sniff. It makes me want to cry even more.
I must tell you that I'm not a craz person. Honest. I'm just a normal fifteen-year-old- the kind that studies hard, hangs out with friends and can handle a breakup well.
Unfortunately, this breakup seemed tougher for me.
You see, the boyfriend of mine for nine months called it quits because he found another girl- more laid-back, fun and happ-go-lucky than panic-ridden me.
I managed to stop myself from crying long enough to give Mia a smile and go through the Cds.
The were all from that UK boy band: One Direction.
Okay, I've heard of One Direction, but I never gave it a thought to actually listen to them.
I narrowed my eyes at Mia. "Seriously?"
She gave me a grin then winked. "Yup. My secret shame."
This wasn't the distraction I was expecting.
Mia is the most neatest, brainiest, and most straight-forward person I have ever known. We've known each other for three years ever since she transffered from her formal school.
And she topped the honors list every single year. Mia is one of the people I know who is aspiring to be one of the greatest writers ever. That's why she's my friend. We are so alike.
She had read every book that I've read-from Harr Potter to Percy Jackson. (*Cue fangirl Jump*)
I know she had the perfect life and was never tainted with any kind of secrets whatsoever.
I stared at the CDs then at Mia.
"Are you kidding me?"
"Shut up and don't judge me," she said dismissively.
I have to admit, Mia's right. I have no right to judge my best friend. After all, she had seen my own secret shame.
Mia had witnessed my undying love for Greyson Chance since day one. Yes, the piano-playing cutie who got his shot of fame from his famous YouTube video.
I have watched that video a million times, so I kinda memorized the whole thing already, hehe.
I can see how painful it was for Mia to see me ramble on and on about Greyson. And how mortally embarrassing it was for me to make her witness me write and re-write m grand plan to fly off to LA so GC could meet me, propose then marry me.
A few years later, I still can't see myself do that. It seemed so childish for serious-me.
"Fine," I sighed and placed all the CDs in my back. "I'll listen to them."
"Sheila, welcome to the world of One Direction," Mia told me, almost teary eyed.
I laughed. Psycho...
