Hyacinth's POV

"Hyesoo, c'mon," dark, straight-haired Bella called out to me as I struggled to lift my luggage to the car.

Brie, my blond friend, poked her head out on the front seat and yelled, "Hurry!"

Xia and Yena, my two other friends, were snickering at me from the back seat. They quickly whispered some words which drew both of them into uncontrollable laughter.

The four of them had been my closest friends ever since my family moved into the neighborhood six years ago. We have been hanging out together even before high school.

Now at sixteen and fresh from high school, the five of us careened our parents into permitting us to spend the summer at a mountain resort. Graduation presents, we said.

We have planned the trip ever since we were juniors. Now we're getting ready for the biggest summer vacation of our lives.  It will be a great time to enrich and deepen our friend ship, as Brie might have to put it.

But actually, standing there seeing my friends make fun of me made me want to change my perspective on friendships. Having exhausted myself with all the strength, I dropped the bagged with a thud and started dragging it down the driveway.

Yep, me being so out of my shit while my friends are sitting comfortably in the car.

"Will you guys stop pestering me and help me with this?" I cried out to the grinning faces in the car. Brie's brother, Seungcheol, who was driving us up the resort got out of the driver's seat to help me.

After chatting shortly with my mother, he took my bag and proceeded to the car.

I ran back to my family and hugged each of them, my older brother, Chan, was teary eyed, for the thought that I will be far from home.

Until my mom tapped me on the shoulder and motioned for me to go. I quickly bid my goodbyes and gave Chan oppa another playful smack on the shoulder and jogged down to the car waiting down the curb.

"I can't believe we'll be there in two hours!" Xia gushed as I plopped down beside her. I slammed the car door shut as Seungcheol gunned the engine.

Yena nodded, "Yeah, think of all the fun we have at the... The..," She was shaking her head so vigorously as if it would help her remember the name of the place.

"The Snowdrop Castle Mountain Resort." Brie put in for her. "I can't believe you forgot it. I mean it's the most wonderful place I've ever heard about. So sweet, and wonderful, and cool, and... romantic," She said, sighing at the last word.

Romantic? The word drew shivers up my spine.

"What do you mean, romatic?" I demanded.

"Don't you get it, Hyesoo?" Xia replied. "It's a mountain resort we're going to. That means there'll be lots of hot guys, cute guys. Oooh! I can't wait to meet all of them."

With the mention of the word "guys," I began to seethe inside. I never used to despise such male specie like this.

But ever since my parents' divorce and the heartbreaks of my boy-crazy friends have experienced.

I decided to hate guys, boys, men (whatever you call them) this intensely.

Actually a lot of guys at school have taken their move on me. Some were brave enough to send notes and little gifts. Others were simply contented with darting looks at me from hallways.
