Ashley's pov:
Okay so I might have to move, but I'll be back in a year.
I've just gotten to know people, and I have to leave.
I know Jamie won't like this at all.
I took out my phone and called m aunt, "Hello?" my Aunt Lucy answered.
"Hi, Aunt Lucy. It's Ashley," I said.
"Hi Ashley!" my Aunt said, "How are you?"
"Um... well since you asked. I didn't tell you this before but, my parents abused me."
"What!?" my Aunt yelled, "Why didn't you tell us? We would have helped you."
"I was scared," I said quietly.
She was silent, so I continued, "Our house just burned down, and mom and dad were missing for a bit. And they happened to come home when it happened. They got mad and pushed my friend and I down. And the police saw it, and arrested them for child abuse. Because I'm not a legal adult yet, I need to say with someone," I said.
"Well of course you and Jamie can come stay with your uncle and I!" she said, "I'll understand if you don't want to leave, after this you only have one year left of high school. I'll see what I can do. I'll call you later tonight when your unlce coes home,"
"Okay, I'll talk to you then. Bye," I said.
"Bye," she said.
I hung up the phone.
"What happened?" the officer asked.
"She said she'll call back when my uncles comes home. And that Jamie and I can stay with them no Problem," I said sadly.
"Well then, until you can move in with them, we have to find you a place to stay," the officer said.
"They can stay with me!" Zach said immediately.
"Well, we'd have to check with your parents."
Zach's pov:
I called my house.
"Hello?" my mom said.
"Hey mom, it's me," I said.
"oh, hi honey. Is everything alright?" she asked.
"Well, not really," I said.
"What happened?" she asked worried.
"Well, Ashley's house caught on fire, and her parents got arrested for child abuse. So she has to live with her aunt and uncle, but there are gonna call her back. So until then, I was wondering if it'd be okay if Ashley and her brother Jamie stayed over at our house."
"Oh my!" she said shocked, "yes that's perfectly fine, of course they can stay with us."
"Thanks mom," I said, "I'll bring her over. Bye"
"Let me know if I can o anything else. Bye."
I hung up, "She said that you guys can stay with us until we get more information from your aunt and uncle," I said.
She hugged me, "Thanks so much!" she whispered in my ears.
We told the police, and they said it was fine. Ashley just had to call them when she heard from her aunt and uncle.
Ashley's pov
I get to stay with Zach until my aunt and uncle call back with more information about Jamie and I living with them.
The house hadn't completely burned down. Things in the house were still oksy.
We went inside and packed up everything we would need to lie with Zach and for when we were leaving for my aunt and uncle.
We finally got everything ready and put the suitcases into mine and Zach's car.
I took my car, and followed Zach in his car.
We drove to Zach's place which was just 5 minutes away.
We walked in with some suitcases.
"Hi Zach," a woman said. Who I'm assuming is his mom.
"Hi mom," Zach said, "This is Ashley, and her little brother Jamie."
"Hi Ashley. Hi Jamie," she said.
"Hi Mrs. Porter, how are you?" I asked.
"I'm good. How are you?" she asked concerned. I knew Zach told her what had happened.
"I'm alright," I said. She gave me a small smile.
Zach helped me put all of our stuff in the guest room, which was right next to his.
'Well, it's late. I should let you and your brother sleep," he said standing up.
"Thanks for everything," I said.
"No need to thank me," he said.
We hugged, "If you ever need anything, or need someone to talk to, I'll always be there for you. I promise," He said.
I looked at him smiling, Thanks."
"Well, goodnight," he said.
"Goodnight," I said as he left the room.
I tucked Jamie in, and got into bed beside him.
