Reese walked downstairs from her room, seeing her father was no where to be found. She saw a note on the table and picked it up.

'Hey ButterCup! I needed to leave early for my new job. Hope you have a lovely day at school. I love you! -Dad'

Reese smiled and took a meal replacement shake from the counter as she headed to the bathroom. She brushed her teeth, hair, and changed into a large orange and white sweater. With the sweater, she wore black leggings. "I'm a candy corn" She told herself as she looked in the mirror.

She put her casual purple ribbon on her hair as a holder for her messy bun. She smiled at herself and went to pick up her backpack and put on her boots.

Reese looked out the window and realized that today was rainy. She huffed and ran back upstairs to get her umbrella. As she went through the hall, she her her dog, Twix, bark at her. "I gotta go, baby. See you after school. I love you!" She yelled to her dog, who barked happily in response.

Reese walked out onto the porch and opened her umbrella as she closed the door. She lifted the umbella over her head and started walking out onto the sidewalk. She started spotting birds hiding from the rain, small flowers drooping from too much water, and how the puddles rippled each time a rain drop hit it. It was.. peaceful.

In her trance of nature, she noticed a figure walking down the street. They looked around her age, but slightly taller. They didn't have an umbrella and they were getting soaked, badly soaked. "H-hey! Reese called out after the soaked figure.

They turned to reveal a taller female with light red hair. Her hair was short, going into a small ponytail. On the bridge of her nose rested square blue glasses. All over her face was freckles, like tiny stars in the night sky.

Reese noticed every single detail of this girls face, even her light green eyes that seemingly faded into a teal. "Um.. I noticed th-that you dont have an umbrella. Wanna share mine?" Reese offered and walked closer to the taller girl.

"First- tell me your name" The girl said and fixed her glasses. "Oh! My apologies.. I'm Reese. And you are?" Reese said and smiled at the girl.

"I'm Jordan" She replied, shuffling under Reese's umbrella. "So.. Jordan, are you heading to school?" Reese questioned her new friend as they started walking. "Yeah, pretty obvious, but thanks for considering that I might be skipping" Jordan gave Reese a small smile.

Reese's face turned slightly pale as she somewhat panicked. "N-no, not like that! I-i just assumed yo-you could be homeschooled.. I was too until today-" Reese said, her awkwardness flooding in as she stuttered.

Jordan laughed. "I was joking. But that's cool, so it's your first day to HighSchool?" She asked. Reese nodded. "I'm a Sophomore though" She said. "Woah, you're a short Sophmore then" Jordan commented.

Reese gasped. "How dare you insult the vertically challenged!" She acted all dramatic, even clutching the middle of her sweater, acting like that was where her heart was(I know it's to the left but Reese is a dramatic bb rn, deal with it).

"Sorry, ButterCup" Jordan said, coming up with the name in an instant. "Can I call you ButterCup?" She asked. Reese nodded three times, this meant Jordan was her friend!

"So- are you a Sophmore?" Reese asked Jordan, hoping they possibly had the same classes, or at least some. "Yeah, some people think I'm Junior though" Jordan said with a gentle tone. "I can see why, you're tall" Reese said.

"No, you're just short" Jordan said and booped Reese's freckled nose. Reese once again did a dramatic gasp. "If I am so short- carry me! My little legs are tired from such a long trek" Reese said, only joking- but then noticed Jordan took it seriously.

"As you wish, my princess!" Jordan swept the short, freckled female into her arms bridal style. "I WAS ONLY JOKING!" Reese squeaked. "Want me to put you down?" Jordan asked, trying her best to make sure Reese kept the umbrella over both their heads.

"..." Reese paused for a moment, then quietly said "No" and Jordan smiled in response, proceeding to carry her new companion to school.
