I was waiting out for the school bus. It was at that point where it wasn't quite cold enough to wear a jacket, but you couldn't where short sleeves either. I wore a huge sweatshirt; I never cared TOO much about my looks.
I got to school and I t seemed like a normal day. You know in the movies wear the main character can practically sense a problem coming? Let's just say I haven't unlocked that ability yet.
The first half of the day was completely ordinary. AKA boring. Yes, I realize I may be a nerd, but trust me, no one wants to listen to a lecture on Chinese Dynasty's.
I finally made it to my fourth period. Today it was gym class. I was ok with gym class. I had 3 great friends in that class including Anna, Jack, and Ben. I talked to other people in the class and was friends with some of them, but those people were my main group.
I walk out of the girls locker room and into the gym. Everyone is sitting cris-cross on the floor and the teacher had not arrived yet. A boy named Cam is motioning towards me to sit next to him. Of coarse, I did the stupidest thing ever and look around behind me, to see if he's talking to anyone else. He laughs at my confusion with a playful smell on his face.
Cam is a freshman who I've never really talked to before. He had dark brown hair and a muscular build. He was dating an 8th grader, and played basketball on the Eastwood team.
With a suspicious look at him and slow movements, I sit down as he slowly motions that he's not going to hurt me. Once I'm seated, Anna comes and joins me. She looks a bit confused at out current spot, but makes no comment.
Mrs. Kent finally walks in, a rushed look on her face. "Today we will play Kent ball!" She states. How creative.
"This is basically a companion of football, soccer, and basketball." Oh great. My 3 least favorite and unable sports.
"All you do is pass to one another to try and kick the ball into the goal that the other team is guarding. You may transfer the ball to your hands instead if you'd like and just pass until the ball Rachel the lines on either side of the gym. The defenders will be trying to block and intercept your passes."
"You want to be on my team?" Cam asks. I look at him like he just grew a second head. But gradually I nod. "Only if anna can be on the team too" I state. No way I was ditching my best friend (that still lived in Connecticut). The other two guys could deal.
He laughs. "Sure. hey Brittany! You coming?" He shouts to a brunet who was walking towards us. Brittany was a very nice girl and I knew her from the volleyball team.
"I'm here. Can mile join us too?" Brittany asks. Mike was the holster of the freshman class. I've talked to him every once and a while and he seemed like a nice kid.
Anna looks around, slightly shocked that we were both with more popular people than we were. I don't blame her. The look on my face must have been stupid because Cam snickers at me. Jerk.
We start off playing, Anna not doing much because she is not really the athletic type. The only thing that I have to my advantage is speed and the fact that no one thinks I can play. Almost instantly, some people on the other team pared me with a girl who didn't even bring gym clothes! She just stood there picking her nails and looking bored.
As the game starts, I am alway wide open because even when that girl is trying, she can never catchup with me. Finally, Cam shoots the ball at me. Hard. I mean geez, I realize that this is lighter than a basketball, but no need to throw it that hard!
