"What does that mean?" Alec asked and Jace cursed under his breath, while Simon rubbed his tired eyes. Jace's mind was racing as he looked around the apartment, at the expectant faces of their friends. Magnus stared at them both and the coughed, clearing his voice. "It means 'Dead men don't speak', when roughly translated, but the old pirates used to have a saying 'Dead men tell no tales'. It's in Spanish." he clarified, looking at the others. "You know Spanish?" Clary asked, incredulous. "I know 7 languages, in fact. But, Isabelle taught me Spanish a while ago. I'm a quick study." he nodded, and the female Lightwood smiled at him slightly. "Why is that on your door, then?" Jordan asked, approaching with Maia. "That's sounds ominous." Alec stated, still a little surprised that Magnus knew Spanish.

Jace shared a look with Simon and the brunette sighed. "We have to tell them. They are our friends." Simon stated softly and Jace closed his eyes. He had told all about Raphael to Simon and how he wanted Jace to kill his targets, declaring this very sentence before he took their last breath. It was not something he wanted others to know. But he trusted Simon. So he nodded slightly and heard Simon talking, his voice strained and tense, and he wished it wasn't true. He should've killed Jonathan when he had the chance. After what he did to Jose... Jace shook his head. He couldn't think about that right now. He noticed Simon had finished talking.

"So this guy is after you? Did you tell Luke?" Clary asked, terrified. Isabelle put her arms around the redhead and stepped closer. "Yes, I called him. In the meantime, there's nothing we can do. I will go to the station tomorrow, with Jace, and we'll see what we can find. Let's not panic just yet." Simon replied, trying to sound carefree. Jace nodded, stepping a little closer to the group. "Simon's right. There's nothing we can do right now. Besides, it's us he wants, not you. You should all be safe." he said and Isabelle snorted. "We don't care about that. We care that there's a maniac trying to possibly murder you two." she said defiantly and the others nodded. "You are our family, of course we're worried." Magnus said to everyone's surprise. "Oh come on, I wasn't that hard on Jace." he said, looking at the stunned faces turned to him. "Yeah, you kind of were, Mags." Simon said, now a little more cheerful. Magnus rolled his eyes and waved his hand as if to say 'whatever'.

After Simon had persuaded Maia and Jordan, that they didn't need to stay in Jordan's old room and 'watch over them', he closed the front door. Turning around, he saw Jace on the small balcony. He took one of Jace's hoodies he found on the couch and pulled it on, before stepping into the cold night air. "Hey." he said, wrapping his arms around the blonde, who had his hands placed on the railing and was looking up at the blackened sky. "I should've ended him when I had the chance." Jace grumbled and Simon shook his head. He leaned over a bit, pressing a small kiss on Jace's neck. "Stop trying to convince me it's all your fault. Besides, two badasses like us? We can take down Chuck Norris if need be." Simon stated, making Jace laugh and he felt relief flood through him thanks to the brunette. "Now you're just talking gibberish." he replied and Simon laughed, too.

"Come on, let's get some sleep. We have to be at the station by 11." Simon told him and Jace nodded, letting the brunette lead him to the bed. He cuddled next to Simon, hoping that Jonathan wouldn't go to extreme lengths to get to them. If anything, he would've given himself up, just to save Simon from it all. He wanted to shield him and protect him, but so far he had only brought him pain. It was hard to breathe, just thinking about it. He felt tears at the back of his eyes and nuzzled closer to Simon's neck. The brunette let his hand go up and down his back, soothing him. At some point, he fell into the darkness and let sleep take him. Only, it didn't seem like he was sleeping.

He was walking through an empty house, the floorboards creaking under him. When he looked up, there was no roof and the rain falling down was endless. He made it past the corridor and into a kitchen, that was so white, it hurt his eyes. The tiles were white, the walls, even the furniture. But on the floor, there was a small body sprawled out, with a crimson pool of liquid, getting bigger by the minute. Jace went towards it, he couldn't stop his feet, and he saw the pool growing and growing, so bright on the white tiles. Jose's eyes stared up at him, lifeless and dim, and the little hole in his temple was like a black spot that stung Jace's eyes. He heard a laughter somewhere behind him. No, it was all around him. He kneeled down next to the boy and he felt tears streaming down his face. He reached out, sobbing, to touch his hand. "I'm-I'm so sorry. I never meant for this to happen." he cried, shaking under the pressure and he felt his heart ache. He heard the laughter again and suddenly, Jose's eyes moved and he grabbed his wrist.
