"Cadence!" Her mother knocked on the door repeatedly.

Cadence had her knees pulled to her chest while she thought about the possibilities of her being pregnant. She shook with sobs and decided that it was time to answer the door.

"Answer this door, Cadence, you know I'm still your mother!" She yelled.

"Okay." She whispered.

She closed her eyes and breathed in and out to calm down.

Cadence began the slow, dreaded walk to the door and her mother. She opened it slowly and her mother frowned.

Cadence wiped her eyes and stood silently under her mother's gaze. "Are you doing okay?" Her mother asked.

Cadence stepped away from the door, and her mother walked inside. The apartment was a mess and Cadence really didn't care.

"What a mess." Her mother shook her head. "Do you need a ride to the drug store?"

"Yes." She put her head down.

"Let's get going, then." Her mother rubbed her back soothingly.
