Eyes On Fire

My breathing became heavy as she, that evil woman, Jadis, reloaded her gun and pointed it at Siddiqs head, who was kneeling on the floor.

"Don't do this Jadis, you'll regret it" Dean spoke menacingly through gritted teeth.

"I can't find myself caring." She smiled evilly and readjusted her finger on the pistols trigger. Fuck, no, I can't lose him.

But before I could say anything..

BOOM

I woke up from the vivid nightmare of a memory, my vision blurry with sleep. I could feel myself on the verge of teardrops but willed them not to fall. I rubbed my eyes harshly, causing them to burn with irritation.

These nightmares weren't uncommon. I had them quite often. That's what happens when you see someone get killed right in front of you. Traumatized.

I threw the covers off myself and made my way to my large bathroom. Turning on the sink, I put my hands under the flowing water and wetted my face, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I dabbed my face dry with a towel and looked at myself in the mirror. I definitely looked like I hadn't slept in days. I had harsh, dark circles under my eyes, and I was pale, but that wasn't unusual. I rolled my eyes at how bad I looked and began getting dressed.

I went downstairs to make some food. No point in calling it breakfast, as it was nearly 3 p.m. by now.

Ace sat alone at the dining table, his head resting atop his hands. He looked annoyed. Quite frankly I didn't want to mess with him, so I began walking away, until he stopped me.

"What exactly is your task right now?" he questioned.

"Oh uh theres a kid that I have to kill."

"Dean said I could help you out a bit."

"Oh cool uh.. how?"

"Just like, teaching you a few things about killing him. Training I guess you could say."

"O-oh"

"Don't worry, it's kinda fun. Follow me." I followed him out of the room as he lead me somewhere else. Ace was the most experienced killer out of all of the Angels except Dean, hence his stage name - The Executioner. He had joined The Angels a couple years before me. He is 21, 3 years older than me, now so that made sense. I was never really informed about how he came across The Angels, and how he came to join them. However that never seemed to matter too much to me. He fit in well enough for it to seem like he was just born into it. But I knew it was a lot more complicated that that.

We eventually ended up in a room all the way on the top floor. A room I wasn't aware even existed. What can I say, our place is fucking huge.

The whole room was filled with what seemed like random objects, but I guess for what it was about to be used for, I could think of a use for nearly everything.

"Okay, so I think we will start out with the basics. You need to have a lot of options, that way you can do it anywhere, anytime. Especially if it's last minute. It won't just happen. There will be a lot of build up to the actual kill. Preparation."

"So, what do we do first?"

"Slyness, and silence. Assassins cultivation."

We had been in here "training" for hours now. It was physically draining, but I was determined to finish the job.

Now we were here practicing sharpening knives, which, is not that important? I don't know. Maybe it is. I wouldn't know. But I have to trust Ace. He is a professional at this stuff.

I sat on a chair, sharpening a knife as we had previously been practicing. This time we were spending together seemed personal. It felt like a good time to talk deep. And the nagging question was looming over my head.. so, I asked.

"Ace?"

"Hm?" I paused to look at him, but quickly looked back to what my hands were doing.

"How did you end up with The Angels?"

"I- you don't know?"

"No.."

"Damn, I thought everyone knew." He let out a humorless chuckle.

"My parents were members of The Salvagers."

"Wha- wow."

"I know. Just- I don't know. They were never good people. When I was 10, The Angels and The Salvagers had a big fight. Not like that was unusual, but this time it ended in The Angels killing about 14 of The Salvagers. Two of them being my parents." He sighed sadly. "I wasn't sad. They were never good to me. But Dean found me alone right after he killed them, and realized they were my parents. I guess he just decided I'd be better off with him and The Angels, so he took me with him when the rest of The Salvagers came back and chased The Angels out. I don't remember too much about back then, but I'm glad Dead took me in."

"Oh.. do you miss The Salvagers?"

"Honestly, I don't remember much about them. But judging from the few memories I do still have, no. I don't."

"I'm sorry."

"It's okay Jorge. There is no need to pity me. It was a good thing all of that happened. If it hadn't then I wouldn't be here with you guys. I feel like this is where I belong, you know? Where I'm meant to be."

"Yeah.."

"I am jealous of you though."

"What- why? Me?"

"Mhm. Because you.. you just have a connection with Dean that me and the others will never understand. We all knew it when you were younger. The way he looked at you.. it was like he was willing to hop in front of you and take a bullet or something."

"Really?"

"Uhh yeah? I wish I could have that type of relationship with him. You're closer to him than any of us will ever be."

"I suppose I could be, but I thought he was like that with all of you?"

"No.. to us he's mostly closed off. He's never been the most open book to us, unfortunately." He frowned and looked at his lap.

I looked down at my hands and decided I had finished. I hoped the newly sharpened weapon would be good enough.

"Hey Ace, I think I'm done.." he looked up and I carefully handed the knife over to him, watching his eyes glisten as they grazed over the shiny metal.

"Damn Jey, this is really good. A lot better than my first try." He chuckled and delicately twiddled the little thing in his hands, allowing his eyes to take in every detail of the beautiful weapon.

"Aha, thanks. Comes naturally I guess?"

"Hell yeah."

He looked up and smiled at me, showing off that mischievous smirk of his. I giggled at his gesture and he handed the blade back to me.

"Let's go show Dean"
