Okay. So I take orders from a criminal. Does that make me a criminal? Probably. But do I care? Haha. No.

Maybe I was just born to be this way. It would make sense considering..

~

I got out from under my lavish covers on my bed, placing my feet on the cold hardwood floor. Goosebumps rose from my ankles to my neck in a flurry of shivers. Today is a good day. Today is the day I get a new assignment. I've always strived to please The Angel when I do things for him. He has given me more assignments than I can count, each one a bit more hard, or maybe just worse, in moral terms. However, I enjoy the challenge, and I love the feeling of adrenaline that courses through my veins when I act on it. My favorite part about these tasks tho, is getting ready. Presentation is everything son. Make an impression, and they'll remember you. That's what he always says. Of course, to people around here looks are everything.

I put on some clothes and headed down the long stairs descending from my bedroom. We here live in a giant mansion. Beats my old life of practically living in a cardboard box. My father would be furious if he knew where I was now. Not because of what I do of course, but how far I've come. More than he has or ever will go, the bastard. He doesn't really deserve the right to be angry with my choice of career.

My eagerness increased with each step. I grinned widely as I poured myself a cup of coffee from the kettle.

Us here at The Sanctuary, as we call it, are tight knit. There isn't very many of us. There's 6 of us, including our leader Dean, otherwise known as the king of criminality himself, The Angel Of Death. The rest of us are known as The Angels. We each have a stage name, but they are less known than The Angel Of Death. I suppose you could call us a gang, as the definition of gang is "an organized group of criminals", that, we are.

There are a few smaller gangs that stem from us, those being The Loyalists, The Celestials, and The Reapers. Everyone in those gangs are all known as Angels as well, but they have their differences, which is why Dean decided to have separate names for each. The main reason being that they all live in different places. There are more that scatter all across the country, but us four are the largest groups of our kind. The Loyalists thrive in the state of Arizona, and are the closest to us. The Celestials territory lies in Minnesota. The Reapers earned their place in Maine. And us, The Angels, call Riverside, California our home.

As far as stage names go, there's me - The Saphire, Cesar - The Primevalist, Henry - The Red Juvenile, Lilith - The Cherry Cut-Throat, Ryker - The Scarlet Assassin, Hunter - The Cherokee Rose, and lastly, Ace - The Executioner...

I walked into our upstairs kitchen, skimming through my options. The options weren't what I'd call "limited", which made it hard to choose. I eventually decided I'd just skip breakfast and go talk to some of the others. Maybe I'd go help Henry with whatever task he was given.

Henry is among the youngest The Angels have, him only being 16 when we took him in. He's 17 now, but that is still a year younger than me. He's what I'd call my best friend. We grew close after I lost Siddiq.

(Sid-eek)

Siddiq had been my closest friend ever since The Angels took me in. That is until I lost him to The Salvagers. The Salvagers are another gang, and our biggest enemies.
