eliza walked down the street into the fresh air. nighttime swirled around her, tossing about what brown hair wasn't hidden under her wool hat. she headed towards st annes park, the only place she could get any solace, the only place she could get true silence. true peace. saint annes was the first place she took a walk in when she first moved to dublin.
her best friend, belle, had moved here ten years ago with her family. ever since then, belle had constantly bugged eliza to move out of their hometown, scranton, ohio, and come stay with belle's family. eliza put it off for years, until she turned 18, when she finally moved out of the house. it had taken ages to get the money for it, with eliza working minimum wage at a record store downtown. but, with belle's help, (her parents were golden with extra money) she was able to move in with belle in their three bedroom house. it took a while for eliza to get used to everything, but in the end she really enjoyed it. she had even got to visit mullingar, the small town from which big name pop star niall horan was from. she enjoyed mullingar best, it was cute, small, she loved everything about it. she even loved the people. almost every shop she went in to, she was greeted warmly. it was always nice to be asked how your day was going, or how you were feeling.
a little while ago, belle had surprised eliza with two tickets and meet and greets to a one direction concert. in fact, the concert was tomorrow. eliza was actually supposed to be at belle's house right now, but they were at a dinner, so she took a walk instead.
she couldn't help but be nervous about going to the concert, let alone the meet and greet. she had loved these boys for four years, and she was finally seeing them live. she remembered how, before she moved, her and belle would sit for hours on the phone talking about the boys, how much they loved them, how much they meant to them.
niall was eliza's everything. she loved every part of him. his humor, his smile, his laugh, his voice, the way he threw his head back when he laughed, how he had a genuinely kind heart, how he loved his family, and ireland, more than everything. he was her world. she never really liked anybody else after niall. she was really, truly, deeply in love with him.
belle, on the other hand, was a harry girl. she was just as in love with harry as eliza was with niall, if not, more. she would go on for hours about how there was so much more to him than one direction and rumors in the papers.
for the both of them, it wasn't about being a fan anymore. they were just genuinely in love with the boy with the cheshire cat smile and the boy with the oceanic eyes.
eliza pulled her coat on a little tighter and sat down on a bench by the stream. looking up through a few branches, she looked at the starry crystals that dotted the dark velvet sky. that's one of the reasons she loved it here, the sky was so clear sometimes.
reaching into her purse, she pulled out a clip-on flashlight for her hat and her journal. entering one last entry, before she would give it all away the next day, she wrote,
"the stars remind me of your smile."
