Oh fuck! Why the world my head hurt like this?
I tried to open my eye lids but couldn't because they felt so heavy. After what felt like 10 minutes but had to only be 10 seconds I will then to finally rise. Taking in my surroundings I saw that I was in a car with black leather seats. Looking to my left I see Dava with a bruise on her cheek. The memories of the events that just happened came rushing back to me and I abruptly set up instantly regretting in as a sharp pain ran through my temple.
"Where are we going?" I spoke with my voice coming out raspy.
"Akeela, oh my gosh are you okay?" Dava asked me.
"Yeah I'm good, what about you?
"Just a little scratched up but nothing to serious. You should see how ole dude look, they messed him up bad."
"They?" I asked before I finally processed that we weren't driving the car nor did we have one, so who's this?
"Yeah, they helped us. They took care of ole dude and taking us to the hospital right now because you weren't waking up."
"Wait, I'm fine now, we don't have to go to the hospital."
"Akeela you were passed out for at least 20 minutes! I think we should go just to make sure you don't have a concussion."
"Dava, I'm fine. I just want to go back to our dorms. Plus we're in college, we can't really afford to go to the hospital over something so minor. I'd rather save a visit there for a more serious time."
With a sigh she said fine and started talking to the dudes that were driving us. What the heck was she thinking having them drove us around anyways, did she not learn from what had literally just happened?
"I talked to them and they said they can take us to our dorms."
"Okay, and what were you thinking just catching a ride with a random stranger?" I ask in a hushed tone.
"I was thinking that I need to get my best friend to the hospital because she's not waking up and that I needed to get her there under any means necessary. We both know that if the ambulance would've came on campus there wouldn't been a whole fiasco and they'd probably drag our black asses because of it!" Okay I guess she has a point but she couldn't had found any willing girls to drive us?
"Hey mamas, y'all know we can hear y'all right?" The dark skinned in the passenger seat asked.
"Yeah, okay and?" I replied. I'm really starting to get irritated. This is our first night on campus and I've already been assaulted and now I'm in the car with some strangers. Dava just looked at me like I had lost my mind.
Trying to cover up my statement she said, "Oh, my bad. We really appreciate you guys and sorry that we had y'all driving all over town." We? I'm pretty sure I've been knocked out this whole time so I didn't have them doing nothing. "I have gas money for taking us back and forward."
When she said this ole dude that was driving looked at her in the overhead mirror. 'He ain't never have to look at her like that' I said to myself while chucking in my head.
"Naw shorty you tripping, y'all good. Just get home and make sure you friend solid." I finally sat up because I had been still been laying my head down this whole time. I looked in the mirror he was previously looking in to see if I could get a good like at his face. Since it was dark I couldn't see much but I could tell that he was light skinned and had some pretty looking eyes. He then looked back in the mirror and our eyes connected. I just continued looking back, searching them for any sign of deceit.
