I ran through the forest, away from the problem. Like I was did. Instead of facing the truth I bailed. "Daisy?! You can't run! You have to learn to fight them." I could hear my mentor yell behind me. I turned to him before continued to walk backwards that was until he spoke again.
"Always be on your guard!" He shouted making me turn around looking at my surroundings. Trees, trees and more trees. "I can't do this Ray. I'm scared." I told him before reaching the cabin and stepping inside. "Now you listen here, out there is a world full of evil and death. The only way for you to live is to learn to fight." He repeated as he lectured me.
"I'm tired. I don't want this world anymore!" I shouted at him before storming into my room and slamming the door. "You ought to be more nice considering we took you in." I heard him yell but I blocked him out. I laid on my head and I heard a banging noise. I sat up but it wasn't in my room. I stood up to open my door but then I heard a voice.
"Wake up!" It said quietly. It sounded familiar but I couldn't guess.
"Wake up!" The voice got louder and louder before I heard the banging again and my eyes opened.
I sighed as I realise that I am back in the cells. As I sit up I look around to see I was in a separate block. "Ah so you're awake? Good you can tell what the hell you think you're playing at?" I looked over to see the leader standing outside the cell leaning on the wall with his arms crossed.
I scoff as I stand up before realising that they had cuffed my feet together. I start to laugh and point at the man. "Nice one. Remove me from the others and chain me up. Very cautious." The man smiled back. "Yeah well you tried to kill one of our own."
I nodded my head and shuffled my way to the cell door. "Oh yeah. Petal. Mmm. She's a pretty flower. You better watch her." I grinned sickly at the man in charge. The smile was quickly ripped off of his face. "Listen here. I don't know who you think you are coming into MY prison and then threatening MY people. Not to mention tackling one to the ground after getting a arrow to the side."
I smiled again. Nodding to every word. I didn't give two flying monkeys. "Honestly, I just wanna get out of here so I can go live my life. You know? Not inside a prison where the leaders chats bullshit about security. I'm good thanks so as soon as you can let me go, the quicker I'll be out of here."
The leader smirked before walking away. "HEY! Hey! Don't walk away when I'm talking to you?!" I shouted but he didn't stop or return. I growled in anger as I made my way shuffling towards the bed. As I laid my head down I sighed. I heard someone else stand outside my door but didn't bother to look up. "You tried to kill my daughter!"
I rolled my eyes before sitting up to see a big man standing outside my cell. "Petal is yours? Defiantly got her looks from her mother then. Linzi too." He gave me a very deep death stare.
"It's Lizzie." He corrected. I shook my head. "Tomato Tomàto" I said shrugging my shoulders. Stood next to the father was the shaggy with the crossbow. "Awe hello sunshine. How's your eye?" I said taunting him. He looked at me harshly before replying. "It's better then you." He said glaring.
He turned to the father before whispering something. Which I'm assuming was leave since the guy was gone quicker then the flash. I looked at the crossbow guy with intensity. He unlocked the door stepping inside before closing it and locking it again. "I know who you are. Daisy Dixon."
I felt my heart jump as he called out my name. I stood up not knowing how he found out my name. The voice didn't falter as I took in the figure. "How did you know that?" He scoffed before lifting up his head. "Because I know you, Daise." At first I was really confused into the connection dropped. My mouth swung open looking at the brother. "Daryl? Is that really you?" I asked smiling a little bit. When he smiled back my face went hard again. "You and Merle...you left me in that car. All this time I thought you were dead."
His eyes widened. "What? No!" He exclaimed looking hurt. I should be the hurt one. "No? I was 10 years old Daryl! You left me in a car surrounded by bitters." I yelled as my British accent thickened. "That's not what happened! The car had run out of gas, I went to go find a station and when I returned both you and Merle were gone. When I saw the blood spattered on the window I though both of you were either dead or bitten."
As bad as I wanted to believe him, a voice in my head told me otherwise. "Just go Daryl! I don't want to see you or Merle!" I screamed making Daryl look hurt again. He unlocked the cell, stepping out before locking it back up again. I turned around and sat on my bed. Hearing him sigh, he turned to me one last time before walking off, his last words playing in my head.
"Merle's dead, Daisy."

A day or so went passed as I continued to be a prisoner. Ironic how the leader of the prison has a prisoner in his own sanctuary. I laid on my bed looking up at the Ceiling. Every so often I would hear the clatter of metal sliding across the floor. I never ate the food they gave me. I wasn't eating at all. Not until I was free.Once again I heard the familiar clatter ignoring the noise and the sighing of my brother. "Daisy you have to eat something. You're gonna starve." Instead of saying anything I simply stood up, walking over to the plate of food before picking it up and throwing it at Daryl with a scowl on my face. "Got to hell!" I whispered going back to my bed.
"I'm sorry this happened to you." Daryl said before turning away. He stopped when I spoke. "Nothing happened to me Daryl. I toughened-up. I did what you told me to do. I survived." He turned to look at me shocked before walking off down the hall still drenched in the food I had thrown at him.
I sat on my bed with my back against the wall. I pulled my knees up to my chest like I had done in the car all those years ago. I thought back to my first kill. The first time I had taken life out of the living. Well the unliving. That's when everything changed. That's when survival was my top priority.
I stumbled across the tree brunches as Raymond pulled me through the forest. Today was my first day of training. After having met Raymond a few days earlier, he promised that he would teach me to defend myself against the living and the dead.
"Come along Daisy. We haven't got all day." He said with his British accent booked through the forest. I quickly followed having no choice in the matter.
"Ray, slow down. She's only a child." I heard the warm, caring voice of his wife sigh as she followed close behind. I tried to look at her but once again I stumbled across the tree brunches.
"She wants to learn to defend herself Caz. I'm going to teach her." He said before stopping in his tracks and turning to me. I looked around as the forest hugged us, trees hanging high and mighty above the forest floor.
Before I could contemplate anything else I felt something being shoved into my hands and stared eyes wide at the firearm in my tiny hands. "Maybe not that one, darling." The voice of the warm blonde ran through my ears.
Nodding softly, he swapped the gun for a simple dagger with a purple handle. "Now, Daisy, when holder your dagger, always make sure the dagger is held at a 45• angle. Ready for any and all attacks."
I mimicked his actions as he held a similar dagger to mine with a red handle. "Never, and I mean never, let your guard down. Out here or in there. You take the eye of the ball for even a second, dead." He said referring to the outside world.
I nodded violently understanding the mans strict but true words. "Never let anyone see the real you. Always have strength and stamina. Protect your walls and your life."
I let the words dawn on me and silently agreed with him.
Every day after that, him and I went out, leaving the kind women to stay home. Ray and I survived. We trained. We killed. After a while of being taught tactics, I learned to use a gun. Always remembering the harsh words bound in my head by the father figure.
Shoot. Kill. Rinse. Repeat.
AN: I liked this chapter. You can see how much Daisy had changed from the sweet girl that Daryl loved.
Next chapter will be when Daisy and Carl formally meet.
