False Awakening

     What is a false awakening? When you awaken from a dream only to realise you have not yet risen from your slumber. You are up, out of bed. Ready to face the day. But you have not yet woken. You're merely dreaming. Now picture this happening again. Once more. Repeating itself into a frenzy. Welcome to False Awakening.

     You find yourself slowly losing your grip. Again and again, awakening at last only to find you're still sleeping. Your recurring dream, now, has turned strangely sinister. You keep trying to escape it, only to feel yourself be pulled back into the dark depths of your nightmare. Repeatedly. Again and again. You awaken, feeling you've finally left the unsettling trance, only to find yourself plunged into the middle of it all.

     A realm plagued by otherworldly entities. Howling beasts with a thirst for blood. You struggle against their grip, forcing your eyes to open. And when they do, you're back. You're home. In your own bed.

     As you get up you feel cold, dead fingers grasping for you once more. It was yet another False Awakening. These recurring nightmares, though frightening and desolate, begin to defy your reality.

     This novel reality you cannot escape nor defeat. Hell has become your routine. When this happens, hope is forgotten.

     Only this is not your routine. This is not your misery. It is the misery of your loved one. You are free. They are the ones trapped in this False Awakening. When you look at them you will see the eyes of a caged animal; trapped, devoid of hope, and eventually resolved to their burdened existence.

     This curse has befallen your dear one. A chilling loop of freedom plagued by misfortune, inflicted on them by unknown forces.

     You too may be cursed, for you must observe the False Awakenings of your beloved for an eternity.
