The Arrival

I woke up to the whole palace a buzz. Today is the day. The day the 315 suitors arrive. The day my life changes. I have been the Queen of Austria for over 167 years. I have never been married. Now, in order to live, I must marry.

Each suitor has exactly 24 hours to win my heart. They come into my quarters at exactly midnight (after the last suitor leaves at midnight) and then we sleep until 7 am. Then he had until 10:30 pm to win my heart before we sleep again. Then at 11:59 pm a guard wakes him up and he leaves and the next suitor comes in. It's really quite weird if you aren't from Austria but that is how we are going to find my future husband. The future king. The order in which the suitors go is is alphabetical order. So A's are first so then the names are in alphabetical order so like James will go before Jericho but after Jack. It's kind of confusing at first but after awhile you get used to it.

I hop out of bed and walk to my wardrobe. I pick out a nice green dress. It's one of my favorites. I call in my head maid, Marcy, and she helps me put it on. (Dress: https://img1.etsystatic.com/000/0/5364762/il_570xN.279069219.jpg) "Mah Lady, this dress will make the boys swoon!" She exclaims as she tightens my corset. I giggle at the thought "That's the plan, Marcy." I reply as we giggle together. When she finishes my corset and adds all the layers, I turn to her. "Marcy?" I call. "Yes, mah lady?" She replies brushing my hair softly. "Do you think I'll find him?" I ask curiously. "I hope mah lady. I sure do hope." She replies pinning my hair up. (Hair: http://slodive.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/long-hair-updos/messy-updo.jpg) "Me too." I whisper. Marcy finishes my hair and turns me around placing her hands on my shoulders. "You are not the Queen of Austria today. Today you are a girl finding her husband. Don't worry about the spell or anything else. You're 19 years old. Just relax and enjoy all the cute boys. There's no shortage of 'em." She says smiling. I nod my head in response. "Thank you." I say hugging her. "Don't thank me mah lady. Thank my mother." She replies pulling away and walking out the door. I check myself over once more in my mirror before following her out.

I wait in the corridor for all the men to gather in the foyer. I hear the head butler, Chris, explain the rules of the competition. "Each one of you will have EXACTLY 24 hours to win the Queen's heart. At midnight you will enter her quarters and sleep till 7 am you will then have all day to get to know the Queen. Then at 10:30 you will return back to her quarters and sleep. A guard will wake you at 11:59 pm and then the next suitor will enter and so on and so on. You will NOT corrupt her majesty or you will be executed effective and immediately. There will be a guard in her quarters at all times. The order in which you enter is alphabetical order so..." He pauses looking at the paper of names. "Adam will go after Aaron but before Aiden." He finishes loudly. "Now I am pleased to present to you. Her majesty the Queen." He says signaling me in. When I walk out of the corridor and step on the balcony the whole room sighs. I know I'm beautiful. That's part of the spell but just because I look beautiful doesn't mean I feel beautiful. I smile at all of them. Marcy was right, there's no shortage of handsome faces here. One in particular sticks out the most. He has sandy brown hair and piercing green eyes and his jawline could cut butter. He was handsome, very handsome. We locked eyes and he smiled. His smile reached his eyes and it was nice. Then Chris interrupted my thoughts. "Your majesty?" He whispered in my ear. "Yes Chris?" I answer. "The dining room is set and the food is ready for breakfast. Would you like me to announce them or do you?" He asks. I look at all the faces staring at me. I smile and wave Chris away. He bows and walks away. "If you will please redirect yourselves to the dining hall. It's right through those big doors." I explain. At the sound of my voice the men sigh again. I blush and step away from the balcony. I make my way down the stairs and I can feel all the eyes following me. I blush again. I walk through the doors to the dining hall. The men (idk what to call them cause like they are 20-25 so idk if they're boys or men or what) follow me. I stop and turn around and they stop and stare at me. "Find your name. There are place cards on every plate." I say turning in my heel and walking to my place at the head of the table. All of the suitors rush to find their card and sit down. The servers come out and serve breakfast when everyone is seated. It is very quiet as we eat. I set my fork down and pick up my knife and clink my orange justice glass. All eyes turn to me. "Sorry to interrupt you meals. It's just that I've eaten all my meals in her and it at least has some conversation. So please. Introduce yourselves to your neighbors. You are going to be living together for the next year. Why not make some friends while you're here?" I finish with a smile. Immediately the dining hall was filled with laughter and chit chat. Names were exchanged and stupid about lives were said. I smiled to myself. Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw someone approach me. I turned to find that man from earlier. He bows and I nod my head. "Your majesty?" He asks for permission. "Hello Mister..?" I reply, asking for his name. "Kylan. Kylan Leal." He answers. "Hello Mr. Leal. What can I do for you?" I ask, curious. "May I?" He asks motioning to a chair next to me. "Please." I answer. He sits down and scoots closer to me. "Now. What can I do for you Mr. Leal?" I ask once more. " how are you today?" He asks. I do a double take. Why would he ask that? "I'm very well. A bit nervous but that doesn't matter." I answer with a smile. "It does matter." He reassures me. We spend the rest of breakfast talking an the breakfast ends

"I look forward to getting to know all of you. Now go find your rooms. They will have your name on them." I tell them. They all rush to their rooms. I make my way to my quarters. When I get there, Marcy is waiting for me. She helps me out of my dress and into a hot bath. Tomorrow is going to be a tough day. I just hope everything goes smoothly over the next year.
