The celebrations had already started when we arrived. The crew was singing and laughing loudly. Long John Slag was tied to the mast and the crew laughed at him mockingly to which he reacted with angry growls.

They passed around a few bottles of rum and seemed very happy.
„To us and to this badass princess" said Gibbs and raised the bottle taking a deep sip. Everybody cheered and I flushed a little.

The crew told a lot of stories of their adventures and throughout the evening someone always reported the events of today again and again.

They mocked their Captain for missing all of it and he did not seem very pleased with that.

„Loosen up a lil' , we're jus messin' with ya" said one and gave Orion a friendly pat on the back. „I'm just mad I didn't see that spectacular fight between her and Long John Slag" he chuckled and took a sip of the rum.

„Ye would've shit yer pants if ye saw that" said Gibbs pertly and Orion rolled his eyes but chuckled. Gibbs obviously had a little bit too much of the good stuff.

I sat in between them and observed. „Would ya like a sip?" one crew member asked and I declined politely: „No thanks"

By now all of them, including Orion, were a  little tipsy or fully drunk and I started feeling a little uncomfortable. A wise woman once said that rum is a vile dring that turns even the most respectable men into complete scoundrels.

I decided to excuse myself and go to bed instead of watching them get progressively more drunk by the minute.

I walked back to my cabin but stopped for a moment to gaze at the water. It was glittering, reflecting the moonlight perfectly. It seemed almost magical and I wondered what secrets its surface hides.

„Sorry if that's not the kind of celebration you're used to" I heard a deep, familiar voice behind me.

I turned around to face Orion. „I was just uh a little tired" I said and started walking towards my cabin. „No wait" he said and grabbed my arm. I felt my heart speed up. What if it was true? What if alcohol just completely wipes out a man's sense for morals and responsibility? I looked at him, fearing what would happen next.

He studied my face for a moment and hesitated.
„I'm sorry for today. I should've protected you. Instead I missed the whole thing" he said and I looked at him confused. That didn't seem like what he initially wanted to tell me, something held him back.

„He gave you a pretty strong hit on the head, it wasn't your fault" I said a little more relaxed and smiled.
„The sooner we get you back home, the better" he said „'tis too dangerous out here, especially for a woman" he continued.

Did he just-?

„Is it? I think I've managed to deal with it pretty good so far. At least for a woman" I said angrily and stomped off, ignoring him shouting: „Come on, you know that's not what I meant"

Orion's P.O.V.

Why did I say that? I didn't even mean it, she's the strongest woman I have ever met and she did a great job of defending herself today. I could see the anger in her emerald eyes when she stomped off.

I didn't mean to hurt her feelings but I couldn't tell her what I initially wanted to say. The best thing for her is to get back home as soon as possible, she doesn't need a pirate in her life, she needs a home.

When we kidnapped her I thought she was going to be some spoiled brat that we'd hate having around but I am really starting to enjoy her company.

She's incredibly brave and doesn't back down from a challenge.

I turned around and returned to the rest of the crew, rum would help me forget, I hoped.
