When the noise of the door lock smashing came to my notice I inhaled and became as still as I could. The sound of people walking into the room made my heart rate go up. I thought that if it was possible for someone to hear my heartbeat they did. The dresser doors swung open revealing two pirates.
One was tall and skinny with long oily hair and the other had big muscles that rippled his bare chest and scars graced his face in the worst way. I was pulled out of hiding and forced onto my knees where ropes were tied around my hands.
"What should we do with her?" The taller skinny one said.
"Take her to the captains, they decide, we don't." The big one grabbed onto my arm and pulled me off the floor and dragged me outside.
It was pitch-black other than the torchlights on the ships and docks. the only things occupying the Docks where the dead body pile and a group of pirates gathered at the center of the bay market.
I was dragged like a lifeless doll to the Bay market and lead through the crowd to the center where I saw the three pirates sitting and talking with their crew. They each looked like a pirate themselves. Each of them was also exactly how they were described to me in books.
The oldest one was Old man Maroon he sat to the right of the three pirates and he was also the best fighter of them all. The next one was Captain Gorsous tall and bald the only hair to him was his goatee and twirled mustache. He was staring at me the most out of all of them but the last of the three was Captain Zac after Cory died his son took the business over and now he had his old ship back in his possession.
I was forced to my knees. "She was found locked in one of the houses."
Captain Gorsous got on his feet and walked over to me. "Why where you locked inside those houses?" His voice was raspy and old and his smile was full of mettle black and gold. A chill ran down my spine.
"I was forced away from the fight." I tried to ignore his breathing as it came so close to my face that I could smell the horrendous order that escaped his mouth.
"Forced. do you fight?" He was learning and his demeanor showed wicked intentions but I still flashed a smile, afraid of death was one thing but being afraid of this man was another.
He pulled me off the floor and stared me in the eyes.
"I know a little swordplay." I tried to keep my face as far away from his as possible. I stumbled backward and felt his hand sneak around my waist, supposedly it was supposed to catch me but I still hated it.
He let his hand drop and without warning, I fell straight to the floor. Captain Gorsous laughed hard for a long time while I scrambled to get back up and thankfully the tall one helped me.
"Rat, get the general," Gorsous announced to the tall one.
Rat raced away from the crowd and left me in the midst of pirates who were chuckling wildly. I waited for what was hopefully the general who might have survived.
"I don't want anyone here except me, this young lady and any captains who want to talk about this." Captain Gorsous lifted his gun in the air and shot it off into the sky. Everyone who wasn't supposed to be there immediately got back to work.
Rat returned with the general. The general was bruised and cut everywhere but when he noticed me his eyes wider. "L-" He cut himself off when he noticed the three Captains in front of him.
There was silence for a little while and my heart couldn't take any more pounding. The silence was interrupted however by an anxious old man Maroon. He stood from the seat he was on pulled his gun out from its holster and then fired it at a nearby lantern. I flinched and stared at the barrel of the smoking gun.
