Stormy Depths

Chapter 4: Chase me

I watched the men haul stuff for about an hour until the captain found me and stayed with me for another half an hour. "Why are you standing here?" I asked him.

He watched over his men silently and ignored me. "You jerk." I turned around and left him there but immediately regretted not asking him what to do.

"Have Rat take that collar off." He said as I wast thinking to return to him. "What? Oh." I grabbed the mettle around my neck and adjusted it. This thing would be great to have off of me. I found Rat not long later taking Benny to the house. "Cap says you should take off my collar." I grabbed it and tried to ignore benny. Captain was watching over me on top of the Halto so I kept away from Benny.

"I heard." Rat snickered. "I get that off you." he sheathed his sword and took a pair of keys out and unlocked the collar. it slammed to the floor and I rubbed my neck.

"How's it feel to be free?" Benny asked but I turned away from him and then Immediately made eye contact with Gorsous. I tilted my head and rolled my eyes.

"Captain wants you to go to his cabin." Rat said as he talked away.

I nodded and walked back to Halto and up the ramp to meet with Gorsous. but something caught my sight outside the cave. Another ship was approaching and fast, I pulled my telescope out and looked through it out to sea and noticed that the ship was none other then Goldenmary.  

"Strange," I said but figured that they knew about it. When I arrived in the cabin the captain was sitting on the floor with a map and marking it with a red pencil our home was crossed off.

"And what are you doing?" I asked.

He stood up dropped the pencil and then glanced up at me. "Crossing of treasure spots." I smiled at him. "And we're supposed to have company I presume?"

He looked out his window and saw the same ship I was talking about. "Yes, more company then you think though." He rolled up the map on the floor and placed it in his desk drawer. "Come on we need to go to the house."

He threw me my sword and pushed me though his cabin door. "I have someone you need to meet, I believe you already know each other." He led me away from the Halto and to the house where the pirates where.

When we arrived there was a shout of joy for the captain's arrival and cheer of beer ran around the room. I was handed a glass but Immediately put it down and avoided contact with the other pirates. When we entered the building I found that the inside was empty.

"And why is a beautiful place like this empty?" It was beautiful the inside was decorated with all sorts of fineries and the hearth in the room made it feel very homey. A lush red rug made the room seem like a cabin and the tables that filled it made it seem more like a tavern.

On the other side of the Harth was, in fact, a bar it wasn't surprising. "Downstairs is our storage and farther below that is our treasury. and it's empty cuz the men aren't allowed in here until I come in and allow them." He turned to look at me.

"It's the captain's right I assume?" I turned to him and raised an eyebrow.

"Exactly." He smiled and leaned closer to me but the door banged and the pirates below that the ship had arrived. "It's time to meet the others."

"You lazy bums can come in, enjoy yourselves." The captain swung open the door and announced the same thing. The pirates let me and him through but then Immediately swarmed the building.

He took me to the dock where new men where coming off the boats. Zac was sitting at the dock and smiling. 

"Welcome good friend." Gorsous chuckled with Zac who in turn stared at me. "It seems you fit in the mess quite nicely." He pointed to the outfit.
